Summary
The wait forAstro Botis nearly over. ThePlayStationmascot’s first full-length, non-VR game launches exclusively onPS5on June 13, 2025. That means by the time this year’s Tokyo Game Show gets here, even though Astro Bot will be playable at the event, most of us will have played it at home by then. PlayStation will have something at TGS that none of us have at home, though - a gacha machine that gives everyone who uses it a free Astro t-shirt.
PlayStation confirmed what attendees at TGS will be able to experience when visiting its booth this yearvia a blog post, revealing anyone who plays Astro Bot at the show will be able to use its giant gacha machine. I noted that the t-shirt you get will be free. PlayStation hasn’t specifically confirmed that, but there’s no mention of having to pay to use the machine, just that everyone who stops by and plays Astro Bot will get a chance to use the gacha machine.

If the image of the machine PlayStation has shared is accurate, then it will look very similar to the one you retrieve collectibles from inAstro’s Playroom. The key difference is the real one will have t-shirts inside as opposed to knick-knacks from throughout PlayStation history. I’ll let you decide if that’s an upgrade or a downgrade. There will be four designs, and in true random gacha fashion, you will not be able to choose which design you get, or the size it comes win. You get what you’re given and move on.
The Gacha Machine From Astro’s Playroom Is Real And It’s Full Of T-Shirts
As the proud owner ofone of the Astro Bot t-shirts PlayStation released this summer, the best thing about the designs being given away at TGS - aside from pulling them out of a giant Astro-themed gacha machine - is they seem to be exclusive. Sure, a tiny modelPS2similar to the one you get from the virtual gacha machine in Astro’s Playroom would be nice, but the t-shirt you get is one money can’t buy. It might not be your size, but it’s still a t-shirt only a quarter of people who get the chance to use that machine will own.
Speaking of Astro merch available in very limited quantities, PlayStation really did releasea real version of the DualSense Astro uses to fly aroundin his upcoming game. As expected, the controller sold out almost immediately. On the bright side, the Concord DualSenseis still in stock. Perfect for playing PlayStation’s new hero shooter which is out now.
