Summary

PlayStation has just announced a brand-new LegoHorizongame called Adventures at Summer Game Fest. It’s set to release on PC, Nintendo Switch, and PS5—but not Xbox—later this year.

Naturally, since this is a Lego spin-off, it’s a lot more lighthearted and family-friendly than the bleak post-apocalypse of the main series, with plenty of signature Lego humour sprinkled in. And given that Aloy is made of plastic bricks and not… flesh, it’s not ‘canon’. Instead, it’s “inspired” by the original games.

Co-developed by Studio Gobo and Guerilla, this new crossover sees Aloy fighting Lego robot dinosaurs in a top-down view, building up her village (we even see a ferris wheel), teaming up with a friend in co-op (Varl), sneaking around in ruins, ziplining, opening chests for studs and materials, and dressing up in other Lego accessories.

Horizon Adventures Will Retell Zero Dawn’s Story In Lego After Seven Years

According tothe PlayStation blogwhich went live shortly after the reveal, Horizon Adventures will walk us back through Zero Dawn’s story from 2017 in which baby Aloy is found in a cave by huntsman Rost, who teaches her how to survive in the wilds.

Once again, we’ll follow the thousand-year-old hologram scientist Elisabet to uncover Aloy’s purpose and destiny in this new world, leading her to a confrontation with Helis, leader of the sun worshipers following a mysterious “Ancient Evil”.

Follow your own adventure or share the fun with another player via couch or online co-op. LEGO Horizon Adventures has been designed for two-player action without the need for split-screen, providing an opportunity for family and friends to develop connections through collaborative play.

The village which we saw in the trailer, which can be overhauled and customised, is Mother’s Heart, AKA Nora’s tribe from Zero Dawn. It’s essentially the Sacred Land’s capital, led by the High Matriarchs.

It’s not the first spin-off.Call of the Mountain, a VR exclusive, launched in February of last year, and a TV series is in the works which seeks to bring the games to the small screen for an entirely new audience. It’s not even the first time that Lego and Horizon have crossed over, asForbidden West got an official set in 2022, bringing the Tallneck to our shelves with over 1,222 pieces.

We don’t have an exact release date or price yet, but Lego Horizon Adventures launches during the 2024 holidays.
