Summary

Peter Molyneux is back in the limelight, revealing a new game at Gamescom’s Opening Night Live. Master of Albion appears to be a return to Molyneux’s roots, with Black and White-esque gameplay, and a Fable-like setting.

Masters of Albion also acts as Molyneux’s return to PC and console gaming, as it won’t be coming to console. This comes after Molyneux’s studio, 22cans, stuck with the mobile market since it was formed in 2012, something Molyneux seems eager to step away from now.

Peter Molyneux Announces A New God Game

Masters of Albion will be self-funded and made by a small team of devs, so we shouldn’t expect another crowd funding campaign from Molyneux.

While Masters of Albion is a god game, there is a third-person combat option, which is a lot more Fable-esque. Of course, the name itself is very Fable, as Molyneux is once again making a game in a setting called Albion. We already knew this would be the case, as heconfirmed as much in October of last year. Back then, it was known only as Project MOAT, and Molyneux didn’t share much about it at all. But now, we have an extended look at the gameplay, as well as a better idea of what kind of game Molyneux is eager to pursue after so many years in the mobile market.

Masters of Albion doesn’t have a release date just yet, but it can be added to your wishlist on Steam. It will be available across PC and console, although specific platforms have not been specified just yet.

As for Fable, this is being made by Playground Games. As far as we know, Molyneux and many of the other figures from the Fable series aren’t attached to this new game, giving us a new take on Albion (the Fable Albion, that is) entirely. And hey, if Molyneux’s game launches next year too, then that’s two games set in a place called Albion in one year - not bad going, considering how long Fable fans have been left waiting.
