The Persona 4 Fog Restoration Project

The mod, created by modderBrawlerAce, states that “Golden’s release came with significant changes to the game’s visual identity.” Calling the original game’s art design “really nice”, Brawler set out on the mission to “fully restore the original P4 visuals for all fields, leaving not a single field present in the original P4 with its stock P4G look.”

With development currently at around the 40% completion mark, the overhaul will focus specifically on the dungeons and TV World. This includes the TV World’s entrance, the Velvet Room, and the Twisted Shopping District, alongside all normal and boss battle screens.

Brawler does point out that, although the project makes major graphical changes to many areas of the game, it “currently makes no changes to the overworld,” due to the fact that “further work is needed with those fields.”

They claim that because of the scope of the mod, there shouldn’t be any compatibility issues; however, they do have some recommendations. Anybody who downloads Persona 4 Fog Restoration is advised to play the game with the in-game contrast setting set to two. Brawler also suggests some further mods that will help to “further enhance the P4 PS2 vibes.” They are theP4 Opening Moviemod, theP4 Style Text Boxmod and theYukiko Castle - PS2 Wall Texturemod.

“That’s What We Love To See”

The project has drawn huge adulation from Persona 4 fans around the world.

MultipleTwitter usershave been “wanting this mod to exist for years”, withsome not realizing"how big of a change" this overhaul actually was.

Others haveclaimed to be put off playing Persona 4 Goldendue to how “they butchered the fog effects,” and this mod has opened new doors for them.

Although the road to completion is likely to be long, the Persona 4 Fog Restoration Project is a welcome one and breathes a whole new life into theAtlushit.
