Even though Persona 3 Reload launched all the way back in February and feels like a lifetime ago, there’s still plenty for Atlus fans to look forward to this year.Not only do we have Metaphor: ReFantazio coming out in a few months, but Persona 3 Reload is also getting the Episode Aigis expansion in a few months.
Long-time Persona fans will of course be aware that Episode Aigis originates from the FES edition of Persona 3 and acts as an epilogue to the original game. You might think that Persona 3 Reload’s version of the expansion would be the exact same, but a new trailer at Gamescom 2024 has revealed that isn’t the case.
Early on during Gamescom 2024’s Opening Night Live, Geoff Keighley revealed a new trailer for Persona 3 Reload’s Episode Aigis expansion, which promised a special surprise. You’ll never see it coming, but Joker from Persona 5 was confirmed as a special challenge battle that can be accessed in the DLC.
We only got to see a very brief look at Persona 3 Reload’s Joker battle, but it looks like Joker will be fighting alongside Arsen, which means that he’ll probably have access to a bunch of different Personas during the battle. It’s not currently clear how players will be able to fight Joker, but it’s likely that he’ll be accessible after beating the DLC.
Although it’s a nice surprise for Persona 5 fans, this isn’t the first Persona game to bring back past protagonists for special optional battles, as Persona 5 did it some time ago.
