Fortnite Festival sparked a (sort of) revival forGuitar HeroandRock Bandwhen it launched at the end of 2023, particularly the latter since it was developed by Rock Band creators Harmonix, and PDP immediately followed up with an exciting tease. That it would be creating a new guitar controllercompatible with both Fortnite Festival and Rock Band 4.When that tease became a realityand that controller was released, it sold out almost immediately. However, Best Buy now has the controller back in stock.
Priced at $129.99, thePlayStationversion of the controller, which is compatible with bothPS4andPS5, is available through the link in the box below. Unfortunately, theXboxversion of the controller remains out of stock, but the PlayStation version getting a restock hopefully means the Xbox one will be available again soon too. As for how long they will be available, that’s hard to say. This is the longest a restock has remained available since the guitars were released.

The Riffmaster was only compatible with Rock Band 4 when first released, so even though it might have been frustrating to miss out on the first wave of controllers, now is arguably an even better time to pick one up sinceFortnite Festival functionality has since been rolled out. Figuring out how exactly to make it clear to the game that you’re using a guitar when you’re in the lobby and the clock’s ticking is a little fiddly, but simple enough once you’ve figured out how to do it.
The Riffmaster Is Back At Best Buy
PDP Riffmaster Wireless Guitar Controller
PDP’s Riffmaster has revived the guitar controller. Its wireless offering comes in PlayStation and Xbox versions and is compatible with Rock Band 4 with Fortnite Festival functionality coming in the future. Its features include a foldable neck, an analog stick, and a 30-foot low-latency cable for charging.
The guitar controller is very similar to the ones you used to get with Guitar Hero and Rock Band with a few quality-of-life improvements. It feels a little more high quality, for starters, which is the leading reason why the Riffmaster costs more than guitar controllers used to. Not to mention quite a bit of time has passed since Rock Band’s peak. There’s also a thumbstick on the back of the Riffmaster’s neck, right at the top, making it super easy to navigate menus between tracks.
Even if you didn’t find this article until after the Riffmaster had sold out again, at least it’s evidence that more stock is being sent out, albeit gradually. I’m sure PDP knew its guitar controller would be popular, but perhaps not quite as popular as it has been so far. Don’t despair if you still don’t have one, as there will almost certainly be more stock available soon, both on PlayStation and Xbox.
