When TheGamer’s crew met to assign each game preview atGamescomthis year, there was one sort of game that constantly drew an awkward silence -VR. Few things underline the medium’s continued struggle to fully pierce the mainstream than hearing the laundry list of excuses trotted out one after the other. Enter Stacey Henley: Superhero. Through the chatter of “I get motion sickness”, “I’ve not done much VR”, “I don’t think I’d be very good”, and “please please please don’t make me wear a sweaty VR helmet after 17 other journalists have worn it”, I ended up with a bunch of VR games this year, and one in particular -Rival Stars Horse Racing: VR Edition- reminded me of why I love the medium even as it stumbles along the ascent to mass take up....

Sure,Mortal Kombathas its own battles between the various realms, andStreet Fighterhas its own tournament, but the King of Iron Fist is wickedly awesome. After all, which tournament puts a boat load of money on the line, plus control of the Mishima Zaibatsu? Granted, you might have to come face-to-face with a devil fighter, and Eddy Gordo might kick you into the next dimension, but the prizes certainly make the entry worth it....

Summary The Bat creature type was first introduced inMagic: The Gathering’sHomelands set released back in 1995. Despite the type being around in the game for so long, there aren’t as many Bat creatures as you would expect. There are only around 50 Bats in the game. Despite the low number of Bats, there are plenty of powerful ones that see play across the many formats of Magic. Some Bats support other Bat cards, while others have generic effects that synergize with a ton of different strategies....

Summary Final Fantasyis pretty much a household name whether you grew up with the franchise or heard about it in passing. With legendary characters such as Cloud or Lightning giving each generation a new hero to enjoy, each game is memorable in its own way. However, there are some Final Fantasy games that slip through the cracks and become forgotten. Some of these games simply weren’t challenging enough, while others are overshadowed by other games in their series....

There is a lot to do and discover in Coral Island, but it can be a little overwhelming at first trying to figure out what to do besides farming....

Summary Yu-Gi-Oh!video games have been around since the Game Boy Color. The Game Boy Advance era upped the ante on both quality and content. You get to duel iconic characters from the show, play through a story, and sometimes even get your hands on some free promo cards bundled with the game. While most Yu-Gi-Oh! games follow the current format at the time of release, some games commit to some surprising gameplay elements based on select anime content....
