Summary

Bandai Namco’s marketing director seems to have accidentally revealed that characters from the originalDragon Ballseries will be playable inDragon Ball: Sparking Zero.

From the moment Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero was first revealed, fans were hit with the bombshell that itwas somehow going to have even more fighters than Budokai Tenkaichi 3. Granted, it’s only three more characters overall, but it still stands as the largest roster the series has ever seen and possibly out of any fighting game ever.

Over the past few months, close to 100 characters of that roster have been revealed, spanning from Dragon Ball Z all the way to Super. As great as the stacked lineup is, though, there are still a ton of empty slots and not too many more characters from Z and Super to draw from, causing fans to speculate that Sparking will include content from either GT, the non-canon movies, or OG Dragon Ball.

Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero Will Feature OG Characters

While I’m sure that most fans were hoping to have GT confirmed considering it has Super Saiyan 4, it looks like Bandai Namco has accidentally confirmed that OG Dragon Ball will feature in the game.As spotted by Twitter user DBSparkingZER0,IGN recently interviewed Bandai Namco’s marketing director David Edmundson at San Diego Comic-Con.

During the interview, Edmundson talked about the game’s stacked roster and pointed out that characters from across the many different eras of Dragon Ball can fight against each otherspecifically pointing out Tao Pai Pai and the Red Ribbon Army from the original Dragon Ball series. Although Tao Pai Pai and the Red Ribbon do show up in Z and Super, Edmundson is clearly referencing the OG Dragon Ball here.

“you’re able to crossover into different realms. You can have people from Dragon Ball fight people from Dragon Ball Super. Jiren can fight Tao Pai Pai, you can have anyone from the Red Ribbon Army fight against - I don’t want to say Jiren again - Vegeta!”

This isn’t the first time that OG Dragon Ball characters have been hinted at for Sparking Zero. A few months ago, fans spotted what appears to be Kid Goku in the background of a cutscene, suggesting he was playable. With Edmundson’s comments, it now seems all but officially confirmed that OG Dragon Ball will be taking up some of the roster at launch.

I know Arale, General Blue, and King Piccolo come to mind, but dear god please can we have an OG Krillin this time around?
