Despite launching less than a week ago, Once Human players have already taken the “crafting” part of the survival crafting subgenre to intense levels, building houses that wouldn’t look out of place on MTV’s Cribs.

Despite being set in a post-apocalyptic future, in a land teeming with “monstrous enemies”, players are gathering up their resources and building Sims-esque homes.
Players are taking toOnce Human’s official Subredditto show off their creations, and they’re often majestic.
Blyythhee, on Reddit,shared images of their home, a multi-story, open-plan house with giant windows in all directions and a massive spiral staircase linking the floors. The house, both inside and outside, looks extremely modern, with a wonderful minimalist look on the interior.
A key element of survival games like Once Human is base-building andexpanding territory, but the expectation is that your home is more function over fashion. Try telling that to Merpperlicious, though.
Describing their property as “bougie”, Merpperlicious has chosen a waterfront location for their two-story house, which is complete with its own equally-large annexe and outside seating area. A mixture of wooden floors and stone walls decorate the interior, and after seeing it, I wouldn’t be surprised to see Tony Stark cutting around in there in between Avengers missions.
A third property, which is slightly more understated, but still pretty boujie wasshared by Vazreal.
The building is giving major greenhouse vibes, with no external walls, just glass panels. The building is on the side of a cliff, with a whopping staircase that presumably leads down to the beach.
But, while some players have opted for style, others have been a little more functional. Dreamworkz02shared their house, which is hoisted off the ground on stilts, Tentaihentaclebuilt a giant fortand Lecoin1 made areplica of the White House.
The Square Box Method
Not all players are blessed with creative minds, though.
For every Reddit thread showing off a masterpiece, there are commentersquick to lament their lack of creativity.
Many players stick with theirtrusty square box, a building that is arguably more valid and reliable in this post-apocalyptic setting, with one player arguing that the fancier houses would get “F’D UP during a single wave of Purification”.
