Summary

No Man’s Sky’s Worlds Part One update pulls a lot from Hello Games' upcomingLight No Fire. In the announcement for the update, Sean Murray saidof the game, “We’ve learnt new things, and we’re feeding that back into No Man’s Sky.”

So, while players may have been expecting to see some tech from the forthcoming survival title inNo Man’s Sky, they perhaps weren’t expecting to see a direct reference to it.

Discovered By LightNoFire

As shared onReddit, when one player was approaching a planet on their ship, they spotted a Light No Fire reference on their HUD.

Upon proceeding towards Ritehfle Delta, userhorticulturalSocietynoticed that the planet was discovered by none other than LightNoFire themselves. It’s a small but neat touch from the developers.

However, while seemingly innocuous, the discovery had the tinfoil hats out in full force. Many Reddit users speculated that Ritehfle Delta could, in fact, be the “earth-sized” planet on whichLight No Fire is eventually set.

It seems unlikely, as the No Man’s Sky planet is classified as “Scorched”, and the planet seen in theLight No Fire traileris lush and teeming with life. But who’s to say that No Man’s Sky isn’t set in the distant future, long after the Light No Fire planet has been destroyed by a cataclysmic event?

Whatever happens, it’s safe to say the Worlds Part 1 update has been a major success forHello Games. It’s seen the No Man’s Sky player base balloon on bothSteamandPS5, fundamentallychanged bases, made some players debate whether now is theperfect time to jump into the game, and others share that it’s theperfect game for dealing with anxiety. Kudos, as always, to the development team. We’ll be waiting patiently for Part 2.
