Summary
No Man’s Skyhas been in our hands for nearly a decade, but the newest update is"completely refreshing the universe"in an attempt to reinvigorate the community by overhauling the graphics and adding tons of variety to the myriad worlds you can chart across the stars. It’s working incredibly well so far.
Worlds Part 1 is so popular that it causedthe highest player count in five years on Steamover the weekend, but it’s not just PC players flocking back to this space exploration sandbox. As reported byTrue Trophies, the game has seen a 493 percent boost in players on PS5.

Prior to the update, it was the 194th most-played PS5 game, but now it’s the 40th.
True Trophies uses a gameplay data sample of 3.1 million active PSN accounts to track the weekly player count of each PS4 and PS5 game—it’s best used for general trends rather than specific numbers. It found last week via this sample that No Man’s Sky surpassedDiablo 4,Final Fantasy 14: Dawntrail,Honkai Star Rail,Mortal Kombat 1, andCrisis Core Final Fantasy 7 Reunionwhichjustarrived on PS Plus Extra.

The Worlds Part 1 Update Is Completely Free
It’s no wonder that so many are eager to find out what’s new considering that No Man’s Sky isn’t charging players for the update. Everything included is completely free.Players even begged Hello Games earlier this year after another massive update to stop, saying that they would happily pay given how much is included.
Regardless, Hello Games ploughs on with its copious amounts of free content drops, all while developing a brand-new game.

As revealed during The Game Awards 2023, the team is working on a new open-world multiplayer survival title calledLight No Firewhich will take place on a procedurally generated fantasy Earth. It doesn’t have a release date yet, but we know that it’s been in development for around five years.
