Summary

Of The First Descendant’smany post-launch issues, the one that has been bugging players most relates to whatthey consider “unfair” drop rates.

The issue has been touched upon by dozens ofThe First Descendantplayers across websites likeTwitterandReddit; however, a new post from Korean developers Nexon has supposedly dispelled that myth, telling players that, actually, the drop rates are fine.

What’s The Situation?

Since the game launched, The First Descendant players have taken to social media in their droves.

These players have, almost in unison, complained that the drop rates seem suspiciously far away from those advertised in the game. Reports from the community stated that some items with a 20% drop rate tookover five hours to farm, with others sharing they had to complete a certain missionupwards of 30 timesto get said item.

Given Nexon’s history of fudging drop rates, which resulted in the companyreceiving a $9 million fine, some suspicions were probably warranted.

“They Are Dropping According To The Rates Displayed”

On Thursday, Nexonreleased a statementfrom the game’s director that claimed “there is no variable drop rate system…” and that “they are dropping according to the rates displayed.” This statement will be music to The First Descendant’s players' ears.

Arguably, what’s more exciting, though, is that the statement concludes with Nexon saying that it’s preparing “ways to improve the farming experience,” something which will be welcomed with open arms by the community.

With this update, and despite some lingering frustrations, The First Descendant players have welcomed the transparency. Given that the company has now addressed the lack of hard-mode matchmaking, one of players' first gripes, and the fact it’s opened up about the drop rates, the community is relieved.

One player statedthat “they’ve handled initial launch feedback about as well as you could ask for,” withanother adding, “I’ve heard horror stories about Nexon, but I’ve seen only positivity and transparency from them”.

you’re able to read Nexon’s full statement regarding The First Descendant’s drop rates below:

We are well aware that as many Descendants begin farming in earnest, various discussions are taking place regarding drop rates.

There is no variable drop rate system in The First Descendant. We are using the fixed rates displayed in the game. The Dev Team has reviewed the acquisition rates across all servers and confirmed that they are dropping according to the rates displayed.

We are currently working on various measures to ensure the community can trust the dev team such as disclosing item drop amounts for each content. And we also prepare ways to improve the farming experience. The First Descendant will continue to communicate transparently and honestly.
