Summary
Crazy Taxiis going to be a “massively multiplayer” open-world driving game,Segaconfirms. This comes after reports suggested thatthe Crazy Taxi revival will be a live service, taking inspiration from games likeFortnite.
While Sega is yet to use the term “live service” to refer to the new Crazy Taxi, we now know that it won’t be a single-player focused game. In both new job listings and a promotional video, Sega boasts its multiplayer aspirations for the series, with a focus on player interaction.

As spotted byVGC, these multiplayer elements were mentioned by Sega in a video shared earlier today. Thejob listingson its website double down on this, referring to Crazy Taxi as “massively multiplayer” as opposed to just having a multiplayer mode.
New Crazy Taxi Is “Massively Multiplayer”
“We are currently working on a completely new Crazy Taxi game with content that will allow you to experience all kinds of exciting driving experiences, and games that will allow you to have fun with a variety of people instead of just playing alone,” says Kenji Kanno, the director of the original Crazy Taxi.
Shortly after saying this, another developer also refers to this new direction: “In the past, Crazy Taxi was mainly a solo game. We’re currently considering a multiplayer game”.
However, the job listings for Crazy Taxi show that this is going beyond just initial considerations now. Here, Sega explicitly refers to the series reboot as a “large-scale project, open world, mass[lively] multiplayer driving game.”
This appears to back up the earlier reports about the new Crazy Taxi taking cues from Fortnite. If this leak turns out to be completely accurate, then we can also expect a 100-player survival mode, and even collaborations with other brands. We’ll have to wait and see if this pans out.
