While further details on the role’s use of AI are limited, it’s interesting to see thatThe Last of Usdevelopers are looking to create their own systems that can be used by artificial intelligence. This suggests that, while Druckmann may have claimed to have been misquoted in Sony’s interview, the games industry veteran is behind using the controversial tools.
AI is a hot topic in video games at the moment, withall workers represented by SAG-AFTRA striking, seeking protections against AI use in games. The strike has seenperformers picket Disney, and actors like Spider-Man’s Yuri Lowenthal havetold TheGamerthat they are “trying to prevent performance theft,” with the actor concerned that “my next job could be my last job. For actors just starting out, their first job could be their last job.”
Mass Effect’s FemShep, Jennifer Hale, also told TheGamer that she is “nauseous,” “hopeful,” and “determined” in the fight against AI, adding that “If companies get permission to do this, they could take any of my roles, feed them into AI, and [get a] brand new performance,”
