Once you have your hands on your new gaming laptop, it’s important to know how to get the most out of it. One of the best ways we can do so is by getting the right accessories for your laptop. But what are the best accessories to have for your laptop? Whether it’s the best headset or a cooling pad, there are plenty of things to add to your arsenal.
If you’re looking to get the most out of your laptop, we’re happy to help. Here are our favorite accessories for your gaming laptop. As a note, we won’t be discussing any computer components - but peripherals are on the table!

Razer Goliathus Extended Chroma Gaming Mousepad
Ideal for mobile gaming
A great mousepad can make your laptop run all the better. If you have desk space for your laptop, this is a core accessory.

If you’ve got a gaming laptop, you’ll likely be playing it on a desk at some point. While the name “laptop” has its obvious meaning, most of us aren’t actually holding them in our laps while they heat up. If nothing else, that makes it harder to game on an unstable surface, so we strongly recommend having a desk to play on when you’re able to.
Once you’ve done so, a desk pad or mouse pad is an integral accessory to have. A great mouse pad makes it much easier to move your mouse across the table. We love the Razer Goliathus Extended for its massive size, giving you plenty of real estate to game on. It’s also portable, making it as easy to travel with as your new gaming laptop. The only drawback is that you’ll need a surface to put it on.

Razer Thunderbolt 4 Dock
Great for groups
A USB dock can help you keep all of your items organized and powered. This Razer Thunderbolt 4 Dock is a great hub for you to keep all your peripherals plugged in.

A USB dock is important for most setups. You’ll use this accessory to hook up all your USB peripherals, whether that be a headset charger, a microphone, a wired mouse, or an external webcam. Whatever you choose, these hubs are a great way to stay organized and ensure you have all the connectivity you need.
The Razer Thunderbolt 4 Dock is our favorite dock you may find. Our own concern with this piece is that it’s a bit more expensive than we would want, as well as being overkill for a single user (will youneedthis many ports?) But if you’re taking your laptop to LAN meetups with your friends, then having a ten port dock like this will ensure everyone has the connectivity you need.

AquaQuest Typhoon Laptop Case
Keep your laptop safe
If you’re on the go, having something to keep your laptop safe is crucial. This case can help you stop your laptop from getting wet.

Laptops are made to be portable, but if you just dropped hundreds (or thousands!) of dollars on your laptop, you might be a bit nervous to take it out and about. One of the greatest threats is water, whether that’s from a spilled glass of liquid or rain coming while you’re on your morning commute. Even a standard backpack can fail to protect your belongings from not being waterproof.
The AquaQuest Typhoon Laptop Case is a strong choice for the best protective carrying case. We love this laptop case for its waterproofing, which stops any liquids from damaging your laptop. This is especially useful if you have your laptop in a sleeve before you put it into the bag. The main drawback is that it won’t fit laptops larger than 15". If your laptop fits, you’ll also have plenty of room to carry your other accessories.
HyperX Cloud II - Gaming Headset
The HyperX Cloud II Gaming Headset is a perfect gaming headset whether you prefer a laptop or a PC. This headset also comes wired or wireless for your preference.
A good headset is paramount to gaming.High-quality audiocan help you in competitive games where hearing your enemies is crucial, while a good microphone ensures you’re communicating clearly in pre-match lobbies and raid nights. Whatever your use case scenario is, you’ll want a good headset as one of your first accessories.
Not to editorialize, but I’m wearing this headset as I write this piece, and I truly cannot recommend it enough. HyperX makes some great headsets, and this was a natural evolution from the HyperX Cloud. This headset comes wired or wireless, and the wireless has blown me away by how long the battery lasts.
The microphone quality isn’t top-tier - you could probably better performance from a good stand-alone microphone. The audio quality you’ll hear is fantastic, and it’s comfortable for hours at a time. We’ve linked you to the wired version here, but you can easily find the wireless one as well. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do!
Furinno Efficient Home Laptop Computer Desk with Square Shelves
Great for the stationary laptop
If you need somewhere to make your laptop’s home, the Furinno Home Laptop Desk is great. This desk comes with a three-shelf storage pillar and won’t dominate your room with its size.
Does a desk count as an accessory? We’re choosing to believe that it does, given how much it can do to improve your experience with your gaming laptop. You won’t want to spend your most intense games trying to balance your laptop in your lap, so having a good desk made for laptops is a great benefit. Furinno’s Efficient Home Laptop Computer Desk is a wonderful choice toward that regard.
The desk isn’t huge, so you don’t have to worry about dominating your room with it. The square shelves on the side give you a good amount of space to keep your things stored. Overall, this is the ideal desk for a gamer who’s bringing their laptop to other events and wants a place to store it when they get home. While it isn’t the largest desk on the market, it’s wonderfully affordable, and we find that the compact size fits the spirit of a laptop much better.
Logitech G502 X
Ideal for any use
The Logitech G502 is one of the company’s most famous, effective peripherals. We love this mouse for every use, from gaming to everyday browsing.
Logitech’s peripherals are hard to beat, and with products like the G502 X, it’s easy to see. You may recognize this mouse from a similar one in its line, the Logitech G502 Hero, a mouse that’s become so popular it’s practically the go-to mouse for anyone that needs one for any reason. We’ve selected the G502 X for its higher performance - if you’re buying a high-end gaming laptop, why go for the lower-end mouse?
The G502 is perfect either forgaming or as a casual mouse. This mouse features separate programmable buttons that you can use for hotkeying in your favorite game. The long battery life also makes sure you don’t have to worry about it dying in the middle of a boss fight. The minimalist aesthetic will match nearly any gaming setup no matter what color scheme you’ve gone for. With an adjustable DPI, you can also set the mouse’s sensitivity to be wherever you need it to be. Overall, this is a mouse that won’t let you down no matter what you intend to do with it.
FAQ
What Makes A Gaming Laptop Good?
Gaming laptops tend to go off of the same rubric as a gaming PC does. Since it’s a laptop, you might prioritize its weight, since the dominant reason to have a laptop is for portability. You should also look into what components are inside of the laptop and research what you’ll need to play the games you need.
For example, if you intend to dominantly play games from the early 2000s, you don’t really need to get something like a 4080 GPU inside your laptop. But if your favorite games are all the newest AAA titles, it’s more important to get a GPU that can handle them. Also look at the storage (aim for an SSD), the RAM (32GB is ideal for gaming), and the CPU. These components all have a big hand in how your laptop runs.
Where Can I Buy A Gaming Laptop?
Gaming laptops are available anywhere that laptops are sold, broadly speaking. We like to use vendors like Amazon and Best Buy for their wide shipping, their ease of access, and their large selection. You should also check local brick and mortar tech shops, or computer-specializing websites like Newegg. If you know what brand you want, be sure to check their official site.
Are Gaming Laptops Upgradeable?
Yes and no. Gaming laptops are often upgradeable, but opening them up to swap out parts is often difficult. It’s usually best to bring it into a tech shop and see what upgrades they’re able to make, as you can easily damage your laptop beyond repair if you make a severe mistake. You can also buy accessories like anexternal keyboardto alter how your laptop plays.
