Summary
Magic: The Gathering’srecently released Monty Python and the Holy Grail Secret Lairs is definitely one of the strangest Universes Beyond crossovers we’ve seen for the game in quite some time, and that’scoming off of the back of a full Assassin’s Creed set. Nevertheless, the initial announcementmanaged to stir up quite a lot of excitement, featuring plenty of references to the movie in the form of classic Magic cards that have been given a Monty Python twist.
In fact, Wizards of the Coast may have underestimated just how popular this set would be, as if you were hoping to pick it up at some point today, you’re already out of luck. That’s because every single edition of the set sold out within an hour of release, including both foil and non-foil versions. Take a trip tothe Magic: The Gathering website, and you can see that it’s already gone.

To make matters even worse, it seems as though simply trying to buy these sets was a problem in itself. There are several fans reportingridiculously long queue timesdespite being right on time for the release, and posts aboutlongtime fans having missed outdue to this new system. Even when you got to the front of the queue and managed to get the Secret Lairs in your cart, there wasno guarantee they’d still be there when it came to paying.
MTG’s Monty Python Secret Lairs Are Already Being Scalped
And just like with any product that’s being sold in limited quantities, you may already find scalpers going wild with these sets on Ebay. You can already find auctions selling off individual cards, as well aspre-orders being sold for close to $200 a pop. There’s a huge range of prices at the moment, but the commonality between all of them is that they’re unsurprisingly a lot higher than the official price that Wizards of the Coast is selling them for.
Unfortunately, we have no idea whether Wizards of the Coast is planning a restocking of this Secret Lair in the future, though you’d hope so given how quickly it’s sold out. Unfortunately, when it comes to Secret Lairs, they’re pretty much always one and done deals, and it’s likely these cards are now gone for good in an official capacity. If you’ve missed out and really want one now, you’ll probably have to give your money to scalpers.
