Given that Mortal Kombat 1 takes place in an entirely new timeline, the Kombat Kids do not appear in the game. However, it was soon confirmed that Takeda would join the roster as a DLC fighter, making him the only member of the gang to be playable in the new timeline.

Mortal Kombat 1 Seemingly Features New Version Of Takeda

It’s not entirely clear how Takeda fits into this new timeline, but the trailer does give us some hints. For starters, Johnny Cage jokingly references the other Kombat Kids (“an archer, a couple of soldiers”), but Takeda doesn’t seem to pick up on this, so he’s probably a new version of the character. He also references Kenshi by name, perhaps backing upthe leak that he will be his cousin this time, not his son.

In any case, we don’t have to wait too much longer to find out for ourselves. Takeda joins the roster on July 23 for anyone with early access, which is next Tuesday. Everyone else will be able to purchase him on July 30. Then, we’ll be able to see all of the other interactions he has with the fighters and find out if they line up with what has previously leaked online.

Takeda is the final fighter to join Mortal Kombat 1 through the first wave of DLC. He joins returning Mortal Kombat fighters Quan Chi and Ermac, as well as the guest fighters, Omni-Man, Peacemaker, and Homelander.
