Summary

Update 22:59 BST 09-05-2025: The full trailer for Mortal Kombat 1: Khaos Reigns has been released by NetherRealm, confirming the Kombat Pack 2 contents, story content, and the return of Animalities.

Mortal Kombat 1’s second Kombat Pack, Khaos Reigns, has been revealed at San Diego Comic-Con, and it’s adding Ghostface from Scream, Noob Saibot, Conan the Barbarian, and more.

Just a few days ago,the final character of Mortal Kombat 1’s first Kombat Pack, Takeda Takahashi, released in early access, ending the game’s first year of post-launch DLC content. While you might think that NetherRealm has earned itself a break, that’s not the case at all, as MK1’s second year of content has just been detailed at SDCC.

Around a week ago,Mortal Kombat co-creator Ed Boon confirmed that the latest game in the series would have a big presenceat San Diego Comic-Con, withreveals for its next Kombat Pack, story DLC, and more confirmed to be happening. While the story DLC is a big deal too, it’s the Kombat Pack characters that came as the biggest surprise.

Mortal Kombat 1’s Kombat Pack 2 Is Adding Ghostface And Conan

The trailer for the Kombat Pack hasn’t been released as of the time of writing, but those attending the event (such as TheMKSource) have shared photos that confirm that Kombat Pack 2is called Khaos Reigns and is adding six characters. The three Mortal Kombat characters joining MK1 next are Sektor, Cyrax, and Noob Saibot, while the three guest characters are Conan the Barbarian, Ghostface from Scream, and the T1000 from Terminator.

As the datamines and leaks suggested,Sektor and Cyrax will both be females in Liu Kang’s new universe. I’m sure the internet is going to be really normal about that.

If that list sounds familiar to you, that’s because it’s exactly what the datamines and leaks suggested it would be. There were some rumours that Conan and Ghostface had been cut, but we now know that they’re not. It’s certainly a stranger lineup than the one we had for Kombat Pack 1, with no clear theme uniting all of the characters together. At least the last one had the whole superhero thing going on.

Of course, it shouldn’t come as too much of a surprise that Mortal Kombat 1’s second Kombat Pack leaked,as it’s exactly what happened to the first set of DLC before MK1 had even released. Thanks to Amazon, we already had a good idea of everyone that was coming post-launch. Amazon isn’t to blame this time, but it’s a shame to have known everything going in again.
