Summary
Fighting game fans have been eating well recently, getting new installments from the three biggest fighting games series -Mortal Kombat,Street Fighter, andTekken- in the space of a little more than six months. Support for all three continues, as does the merch being spun from them. That includes the first-everFunko Popsfor characters fromMortal Kombat 1as four members of its roster have been turned into figures that will be released later this year.
The four fighters to receive the Funko honors are Mileena, Sub-Zero, Liu Kang, and Scorpion. All strong choices and while some of them have been Funkofied before, these are the first Pops based on character likenesses from the latest Mortal Kombat game. Even though the Pops won’t ship until Jul 18, 2025, pre-orders for the Sub-Zero, Scorpion, and Liu Kang figuresare live on Amazon nowfor $12.99 each.
Mileena’s Pop is the exception not only because its listing isn’t live yet, but also because the figure will be a Funko Store exclusive. You will have to go straight to the Funko source if you want to buy Mileena’s Pop, and while it’s unlikely to cost that much more than the trio of figures on Amazon, since its listing isn’t live at the time of typing this, we don’t know for sure how much it will cost. It’s the best of the four figures released, so it makes sense that Funko would want to keep it for itself.
Mileena’s Pop has her mask on which means her terrifying teeth and tongue are locked away. I’ll let you decide whether that’s a good thing or not. The figure also has red eyes instead of the standard black ones most Funko Pops have and is equipped with Mileena’s dual daggers. Scorpion and Sub-Zero’s Pops are also wearing masks and are prepared to fight. Scorpion’s hands are engulfed in flames, and Sub-Zero is handling a ball of ice. Liu Kang’s figure doesn’t have a weapon, but as he has proved time and time again, he doesn’t need one.
The quartet of Mortal Kombat 1 figures follows in the footsteps of the first Pops released based on characters from season four ofThe Boys, all of which were shown off for the first time earlier this week.Sister Sage and Firecracker have been turned into Pops, and Frenchie also has a figure for the first time. Unfair that he had to wait four seasons, but better late than never.
