Summary

On Friday,NetherRealm revealed the first look at Mortal Kombat 1’s second Kombat Pack, introducing Ghostface, Conan the Barbarian, and T1000, along with the revamped Noob Saibot, Sektor, and Cyrax. It also comes with an Aftermath-like story expansion called Khaos Reigns, all wrapped up under a $59.99 price tag.

But with how much backlashMortal Kombat 1has faced since it launched last year over its expensive microtransactions, Invasions mode, grind-y XP, lacklustre gear system, and myriad other issues, not everyone is ready to throw another 60 bucks at the game.

“Based on the current state of the game… I don’t think DLC should cost $60,” wrote one Reddit user. “$50 on top of a $100 game that’s pretty lacking sucks.”

What The Fans Are Saying

Going by the over 2,000 upvotes, it’s clear that this is a popular sentiment. A quick glance at the highest-voted comments only further drives that narrative home.

“Cost of any DLC must be proportional to [the] cost of the game in terms of content,” replied one fan. “If your DLC costs as much as the base game, it better have as much content as was available on launch.”

Elden RingDLC is just $40 man.

“For this exact reason I will no longer give my money to Mortal Kombat or any other Warner Bros. game,” wrote another. “As a long-time fan, the direction WB is going with this game is so off-putting. I don’t mind spending money, or paying for the value of the content, but if it’s $60 I simply cannot afford it.”

It’s worth noting thatMortal Kombat 11’s story expansion Aftermathwas priced at $40withouta Kombat Pack attached, but that wasn’t too popular either. Regardless, with the added context of Mortal Kombat 1’s rocky first year, it’s understandable why so many are hesitant to buy into the next.
