Summary

Dragon Agefans have long assumed that Morrigan wouldn’t be appearing inThe Veilguard. They had good reason too - her voice actor, Claudia Black, had alreadysaidshe’s “not in this one” when asked about her involvement in the series in 2022.

We now know that this isn’t the case.As confirmed in yesterday’s trailer, Morrigan is back, and it seems likely she’s playing a major role in the story. Thankfully, Black has confirmed that this is her voice but insists that she wasn’t lying when she denied being in the game two years ago.

Claudia Black Returns As Morrigan In Dragon Age: The Veilguard

“Tee hee. It sucks keeping secrets,” tweeted Black, responding to Morrigan’s appearance in the new trailer. “Though I wasn’t lying. I honestly thought they were done with my fave mage.”

With this in mind, it seems thatBioWaredidn’t approach Black about reprising her role until after she made her previous comments in November 2022, making her involvement with the game fairly recent. Still, at least we know she’s back now, and played by the same actor she’s had sinceDragon Age: Originsin 2009.

This means thatDragon Age 2is the only game that Morrigan sat out. She previously played an important role inDragon Age: Inquisition.

We’ll have to wait and see what Morrigan is up to in Dragon Age: The Veilguard.Looking at the timeline, she would be in her forties now. Admittedly, she doesn’t look a day older than when we met her in Origins, but if she’sanything like her mother, that’s hardly surprising. It’s also worth noting that this would make her son, Kieran, roughly 22 years old, so it’s possible that he’ll play a role in the story too.
