We’ve had a bunch of big announcements take place over the course of 2024, revealing games with speculative release dates of 2025, and it’s already looking like next year is going to be absolutely stacked. Monster Hunter Wilds is just one of the heavy hitters releasing in 2025, andCapcomis making sure everyone knows about it with a new trailer during this year’s Gamescom Opening Night Live showcase.
Just like previous showcases of Monster Hunter Wilds, we got a good look at some of the new monsters we’ll be tackling (on top of the ones we already know about), another impressive display of the game’s open world and weather mechanics, and even more Gemma,the blonde bombshell blacksmith that had fans obsessedthe second she appeared on-screen.
The new gameplay trailer gave us our best look yet at how Monster Hunter Wilds is going to play, including showing us one of the hub area alongside some standard monster hunting. The highlight of the whole trailer was a terrifying new spider monster that might be one of the scariest creatures the series has ever introduced.
With how good Monster Hunter Wilds looks with this new footage, we can almost certainly guarantee that it’s going to be a banger. Capcom has been on a roll with its big budget series like Resident Evil and Street Fighter, and has even managed to sprinkle in more unusual andexperimental gems like Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess. It would be quite surprising if Monster Hunter Wilds didn’t end up slapping, especially since we’ve actually played it.
