Summary
If you’ve playedMinecraft, or were just on the internet in the 2010s, chances areyou’ll have heard of Herobrine. It’s a story that’s up there with some ofgaming’s most famous creepypastas, as a live stream featuring a creepy version of Minecraft mascot Steve with plain white eyes was posted by a content creator known as Copeland.
Of course, it was all a massive hoax, and that live stream eventually vanished, as did Copeland himself, but the story of Herobrine became the stuff of legends. It’s something that even Minecraft developer Mojang Studios has alluded to a few times, including little nods in patch notes and the game’s main manu splash screen with updates like “removed Herobrine.”
That stream has been considered lost media ever since it vanished along with Copeland, buta YouTuber called Enderboss25has been working effortlessly to try and get the stream restored. They managed to get as far as contacting Copeland and setting up a recreation of the moment in the stream’s original world, but the hunt for the actual uploaded live stream continued as Copeland himself couldn’t find it.
Minecraft Fan Recovers Infamous Herobrine Live Stream
Well, that hunt has now finally come to an end, as a random YouTuber called Brutalillfjomp uploaded the entire stream to their channel earlier today (which you may find above) afteranother popular Minecraft YouTuber called Blameitonjorge made a videodetailing what we know about the Herobrine story so far. According to Brutalillfjomp, they had the stream saved to their computer since 2010, but didn’t even realize that it was a piece of lost media.
If you want to check out the infamous Herobrine moment for yourself, it takes place right at the end of the video before Copeland switches off his stream out of fear. Of course, now that we know it’s just a painting imprinted on a wooden block, it seems kind of silly, but it’s great to have a piece of legitimate Minecraft history restored like this and readily available for people to watch should they like to know how the legends started.
