Summary

When Marvel vs. Capcom Fighting Collection: Arcade Classics launches at some point in 2024, it’ll do so not onXbox. Instead, it’ll seemingly be exclusive toPlayStation,PCandSwitch. That is despiteMarvel vs. Capcomhaving a rather storied history on Microsoft’s flagship home console.

However, the skip is not related to any sort of exclusivity deal.No. It’s apparently related to a technological issue involving Capcom’s MT Framework engine.According to previous reporting, the MT Framework engine that Capcom uses is not the easiest to port over to Xbox’s ERA system. It’s actually an expensive process, which is part of the reason why the upcoming Marvel vs. Capcom collection, along with other similar Capcom collections, have not made their way to Xbox.

That said, it appears that Microsoft is well aware of the issue, and is actively looking into it in order to rectify things. That is if information from reliable insider Jez Corden is to be believed.

Microsoft Is “Actively” Working On It, According To Corden

In an episode of Corden’s Xbox Two podcast, the reliable insider revealed that Microsoft is aware of the ongoing MT Framework issues. In it, Corden said the following when discussing the upcoming fighting game package:

I’ve also been told that Microsoft is actively working on it with Capcom. I think Microsoft has identified that having Capcom’s back catalog not present on Xbox for technology reasons is not a great look, and I think they are trying to work through it and figure it out.

It remains to be seen just how long it’ll take Microsoft to fix the issues at hand, and if those fixes will come in time for the release of the upcoming Marvel vs. Capcom collection. Any presumed fix should at least allow the collection to come to the system down the line, presuming it’s an easy one.

Either way, it’s a good thing for gamers that Microsoft is aware of the ongoing issues. Capcom has shown no signs of stopping when it comes to releasing collections of past titles, and having them skip Xbox due to technological issues is an unfortunate development.

Just recently, Capcom shadowdropped SNK vs. Capcom: SVC Chaos, however, like the Marvel collection, it skipped Xbox. While the reasons why SVC Chaos skipped Xbox are not known to be related to the MT Framework engine, that is still a possibility, making it another potential title that could see a release alongside Marvel vs. Capcom down the line. Either way, fans should be excited about the development.
