Summary

It’s been more than a decade since theMass Effecttrilogy ended, and the wait for a new game in the series is going to be a long one. Sure, there’s been Andromeda and the Legendary Collection, and while you may replay the games and have an entirely different experience, it’s been a long time since anything truly new was added to Mass Effect’s universe. That all changes this year thanks to Mass Effect the Board Game - Priority: Hagalaz, releasing this October and available for pre-order now.

Priority: Hagalaz is more than just a tabletop version of the video games you’ve already played. It’s also not just a game set in the same world as Mass Effect with characters you’ve never heard of. The board game takes place during the events ofMass Effect 3and includes miniatures of some of the trilogy’s most iconic characters. Embark on a brand new Mass Effect mission with male and female Shepard, Tali, Liara, Garrus, and Wrex in what feels like a forgotten DLC for the third game playing out on your tabletop.

The board game comes with one miniature of each of the characters listed above. However, also available for pre-order now are additional miniature sets including alternate looks for both Shepards, Cerberus troops, and even some Reapers.

In the Mass Effect board game, you and the crew of the Normandy must venture to Hagalaz, a remote world where a Cerberus ship that has crashlanded needs to be investigated. On high alert between bumping into terrorists that survived the crash and encountering whatever might call the barren planet home, nothing could have prepared you for what awaits. Creatures in the heart of the ship that pose more of a threat than anything you expected to run into.

Wrex Is Back, Even If You Killed Him On Virmire (You Monster)

Project Hagalaz is not only a Mass Effect game in name, characters, and setting, but also the way you play. Designed for one to four players, you will make decisions as you progress that use a paragon/renegade system, just like the one that determines your path in the video games. There are 14 missions and the decisions you make early on will dictate what happens in them later on. You can even unlock upgrades and abilities as you go, all of which means you can play this game multiple times but still have very different experiences. That’s unless you keep making the same decisions on every playthrough like in the video games. It’s okay, we all do it.

Mass Effect the Board Game - Project Hagalazis available to pre-order now for $50exclusively through Modiphius Entertainment’s store and will be released in early October. The additional sets of miniatures that can be used with the game are also available to pre-order now and more information about themcan be found on Modiphius’s site. The miniatures will be more widely available from this year’s N7 Day.
