Summary
It took a bit, butMarvel vs. Capcomis back in the conversation between gamers.First, there was the reveal that previous Marvel vs. Capcom titles would be bundled together in the Marvel vs. Capcom Fighting Collection: Arcade Classics collection. That package is due out sometime before the end of 2024.Then, the game’s producer, Shuhei Matsumoto, revealed that Capcom has “big dreams” when it comes to the iconic crossover fighter.
With all of this newfound excitement surrounding the franchise, fans have taken it upon themselves to put together their “dream” roster for a potential Marvel vs. Capcom 4, or whatever it ends up being named. That’s because while Marvel vs. Capcom will most certainly have staple fighters like Ryu from Street Fighter and Spider-Man, so much has changed in the time since the last game’s release.
Infinite came out in 2017 and launched during a hectic period for the Marvel brand. The game ditched its X-Men vs. Street Fighter roots and focused squarely on characters appearing in Disney’s larger Marvel Cinematic Universe. Out went Cyclops and in came Black Widow. But with the X-Men and other similar characters back under Disney’s umbrella, and with the rise in popularity of the likes of Miles Morales, there are infinitely more possibilities.
More so, on theCapcomside, there are several newDevil May Crycharacters, as well as updates to classicResident Evilfavorites. Like we said, a lot has changed.
Fans Are Creating Their Custom Rosters, And They Are Glorious
Taking to the official Marvel vs. Capcom subreddit, a number of fans have begun sharing their ideas for the best possible Marvel vs. Capcom 4 roster, including potential DLC fighters. The results, as you’d expect, are spectacular.
For example, u/kehwajin, littered their roster with a couple of MCU standouts like The Falcon, while also adding a newcomer in Daredevil. Over on the Capcom side, there’s a ton of Mega Man love and some epic DMC DLC representation.
Then, there’s u/Film_Starr, who, self-admittedly, went a little ham on the roster concept, but ham is good. Their roster has Scarlet Witch joining the fold for Team Marvel, along with Vision and Loki. Meanwhile, Capcom sees the iconic Lady Dimitrescu representing Resident Evil, as well as Asura from Asura’s Wrath on Team Capcom.
The entire subreddit is littered with similar posts, each with a unique twist. It’s great to see a community become so alive after positive news. Now, all we can hope for is that the wait between now and Marvel vs. Capcom 4 isn’t too long. Oh, and that some of these roster concepts are considered.
