Lies of Pwas one of 2023’s biggest surprises. The Pinocchio-themed Soulslike, developed by Neowiz, ticked all the boxes for long-timefans of the genrewith its visceral combat, challenging difficulty, and unique setting and enemy design.
For those who completed the game, the developers were kind enough to tease what we might expect fromthe sequel, and now, a new job listing has given us even more of an indication as to what’s coming next from the studio.
Lies Of P May Be Going Open-World
Upon completion and after the credits, players were treated to a stinger in which a character named Paracelsus is sat on a train, taking a phone call from an unknown female. He states, “When I return, I will find her. For sure,” before pausing and saying, “Dorothy.” The scene cuts to Lies of P’s Krat, in which a character, presumably Dorothy, is seen walking along a rooftop in red shoes, which they tap together three times — much like in The Wizard of Oz.
This tease is the first indication of where the Lies of P story will be heading next. And now, a new job listing found byTech4Gamershas potentially given us a hint at the style of game we’ll be playing.
The listing, which is in Korean, is looking for afield level plannerand seeks somebody with “extensive experience playing open world level games” and “anyone with experience in creating a seamless world”. The listing also states that they’re looking for “level design to act as a hub between dungeons”. It is unclear whether this suggests the title will be fully open-world or if it will just contain more open segments than Lies of P, but it’s certainly a glimpse into what’s next.
It’s no surprise that Neowiz and Round8 could be considering an open-world formula, given the clearFromSoftinspirations that the first game had and the success ofElden Ringand itsShadow of the ErdtreeDLC, but only time will tell what the studio is actually cooking.

Lies Of P is a soulslike game developed by Neowiz Games. Pinocchio wakes up in a train station and players are tasked with guiding him through Krat in search of his creator, Gepetto. An array of weapons at their disposal, most of which are compatible with the lead character’s mechanical arm.
