Summary

Around the launch ofElden Ring, a cult hero was born—Let Me Solo Her. This now legendary figure would help players beat the game’s then-toughest boss,Malenia, Blade of Miquella, by dual-wielding swords and wearing only a pot over their heads for protection. Fast-forward to the launch ofShadow of the Erdtree, and Let Me Solo Herbecame Let Me Solo Them, helping players beat theDLC’s final boss, whomthey initially had trouble overcoming.

However, as Oscar Wilde once said, “Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery”, and that’s becoming a problem.

Let Me Solo Her

A Truly Shameless Copy

In the weeks since Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree launched, players have reported an alarming number of Let Me Solo Her clones, of which the vast majority are nowhere near as helpful.

When players are summoning help for one of the game’s many difficult bosses, the name Let Me Solo Her/Them/something else incredibly similar is often popping up above thegold summon sign, leading players to feel like they’ve hit the jackpot. Unfortunately, they haven’t. Reportsacross Reddithave shown just how inefficient these rip-offs often are.

One player told a story of how a summon named “I’ll Carry” immediately quit the game when they started to draw aggro away from Malenia, andanother told of a timethat a “Let Me Solo Him” went to fight the Fire Giant, only to instantly get " smacked down and one shotted by his shield smash move."

This has been a common theme throughoutFromSoft’salready legendary title, with multiple tales of players “letting themselves die” or being so inadequate that they just die “in like five seconds.” The practice is not one that the Elden Ring community particularly enjoys, with it being called “cringe” and “a dick move.”

It’s not all bad, though. One player was helpedby the unconfident but beautifully named “I Can Solo Maybe”, who managed to carry them through a boss fight. Others were helped by an “I’ll Give It A Go” and an “I’ll Try”. Another player summoned somebody called “I’ll Cheer You Up”, who just stood in the background and cheered “while Malenia was beating my ass.”

We need more people with a bit of modesty out here.
