Summary

LegoandNintendohave enjoyed so much success together that what started as a collaboration exclusively for Mario has been extended toDonkey Kong,Animal Crossing, andThe Legend Of Zeldawill be joining them in September. One of the best Lego Mario sets so far is preparing for retirement, though. TheSuper Mario 64set, which shrinks down levels from the iconic game and stores them all inside a Lego Question Block, is being retired, but if you’re seeing this in time, it’s not too late to pick one up.

The Question Block set already appears to havesold out at the Lego storeand will likely never be back in stock. Unfortunate as Lego knocked $40 off its price ahead of its retirement. It’s not on sale, but it is still in stock on Amazon. Potentially the last time it will ever be in stock anywhere if you want the set brand new and for a normal price, you can currently buy the Super Mario 64 set for $199.99 at Amazon through the link in the box below.

The Question Block set was the first in the Lego Mario collection that wasn’t specifically created to be compatible with the other sets that came before it, though there are ways your Mario, Luigi, and Peach figures can interact with the set and collect its virtual stars if you have them. It is simply an homage to one of the best-loved games of all time. The levels inside include Big Bob-Omb On The Summit, complete with a little King Bob-Omb, Peach’s Castle with mini Mario and Peach figures, and Lil Penguin Lost. Don’t do what I think you’re going to do with the little penguin, I know you’re already thinking about it.

Super Mario 64 Question Mark Block Lego Set

Lego’s Super Mario 64 set looks like little more than a big Question Block on the outside. However, hidden within are Lego recreations of some of the game’s levels and characters.

Even though the Question Block seems to have been a popular part of the wider Lego Mario collection, sets being retired is commonplace in Lego. Particularly bigger and more expensive sets like this one. Its sales have likely slowed to a point that Lego doesn’t deem it worthwhile to keep manufacturing more of them, especially since the set has been on sale a few times now. There’s a chance it returns down the line, but if it’s a set you’ve had your eye on, now’s the time to pull the trigger before it’s too late.

Lego has had a very busy August so far. Among this month’s reveals there’s beena set that turns Avengers: Age Of Ultron’s opening scene into Lego, anda Dark Falcon Star Wars setbased on the alternate version of the ship in the upcoming Disney Plus show, Rebuild The Galaxy. If you just want to play Lego video games,Humble has $420 of them available for as little as $15until August 21.
