Summary

In recent years,Legohas proved that the company can take pretty much any movie, TV show, video game, vehicle, or animal and make at least one set based on it. Yet, there are still some things that you never expect to see in Lego form. For example, it was surprising in 2022 when the company released its Lego version of the Dunder Mifflin office from the popular sitcom The Office.

Lego’s Jaws set isn’t quite as unusual as the Office one, but it’s surprising nonetheless. After all, while Jaws is timeless, it’s not exactly recent. Plus, its main character is a shark that doesn’t exactly have any distinctive features that would make a Lego version look different from any other shark. That is probably why the set doesn’t just feature him. It also includes The Orca fishing boat that the shark attacks at the movie’s end. In fact, the entire set is based on that climactic scene.

Of course, the boat wasn’t sailing itself. So, with this set, you get three Minifigures of characters from the movie to man the vessel. These characters are the same ones from the film’s final showdown: Chief Martin Brody, Matt Hooper, and Sam Quint. The fact that three Minifigures are able to fit onto the boat tells you that the ship is quite big, as is the entire set. This is why it takes 1497 pieces to put it together and costs $150. It’s certainly more for experienced builders.

Lego - Jaws Ideas Set

This Jaws Lego set is part of the Ideas range. It features a large shark and a Lego version of The Orca fishing boat. In the standard build, you can have the shark at the edge of the ship, trying to attack. Alternatively, you can put the shark on its own little stand. The set comes with three Minifigures: Chief Martin Brody, Matt Hooper, and Sam Quint.

There are two ways to display the set. The first is by putting the shark and boat on a base, making it look like ‘Bruce’ is attacking the ship, like at the end of the movie. The side of the base even contains the famous quote from Chief Brody, “You’re gonna need a bigger boat.” There’s also a stand that you can place the shark on, making him an individual display piece.

Whichever display method you go for, it’s a set to treasure for Jaws fans. After all, it’s part of the Lego Ideas range, which are typically one-off sets. So, unless the world suddenly gets some new Jaws movies, don’t expect any more Lego sets based on the iconic shark or the rest of the characters from the classic blockbuster. If you’re looking for movies with an ever-expanding Lego universe, stick to Star Wars. The series has received a lot of new Lego sets this year, one of the most recent being set that lets you design and build your own droids.
