Summary
LegoandDCcontinue to enjoy a long and successful relationship together, particularly when it comes toBatman. While most of Lego’s anniversary focus has gone into celebrating 25 years ofStar Warssets so far in 2024, The Dark Knight is also celebrating a significant milestone. It has been 85 years since the very first Batman comic, and Lego has teamed back up with DC to celebrate that by turning the 1966 version of the Batmobile into an elaborate set.
The red and black version of the Batmobile that Bats drove around the more colorful, comic book-like version of Gotham City during the 1960s has technically been given the Lego treatment before. A much smaller Classic TV series Batmobile, which clocked in at just 345 pieces, was retired a while ago. This new set, which wasspotted at Smyths Toys by The Brick Fan, is more than five times the size of the last set at 1,822 pieces which naturally allows for a lot more detail.
Among those finer details is a trunk that opens to reveal the Bat-Computer inside, and a Batman Minifigure based on the way the character looked in the 1960s TV show. Batman is holding a Batarang, but unfortunately he won’t fit inside of the completed Batmobile. Hey, you’d want him standing alongside it for display purposes anyway, right? Since Lego hasn’t officially revealed the Batmobile yet, only the UK price for is available. Based on its British price though, the set will cost roughly $170.
