Summary
It appears that the Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver duology will be remastered. That’s if a display spotted at San Diego Comic Con is to be believed.
News of a potential Legacy of Kain remaster was first posted on ResetEraandlater shared by Wario64 on Twitter. In the post, a potential logo for the Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver I & II Remastered is shown along with a Dark Horse QR code. Additionally, a pair of statues are also showcased with the same logo. While the details are scarce, it appears that the statues and logo are all part of a larger display at this year’s SDCC convention.

The Legacy Of Kain Remains A Cult Classic Hit
Adding further fuel to the fire is additional reporting by GameSpot. Per the website, Dark Horse Comics vice president of product development and sales, Randy Lahrman, said that the statue will come out in August, with more information to come. As for the potential remasters, there was no comment. However, the signs referencing the remasters have since been removed, per GameSpot.
For the uninitiated, the original Legacy of Kain title, Blood Omen: Legacy of Kain, was released in 1996. That title was followed up with the two Soul Reaver titles in 1999 and 2001, respectively. Blood Omen 2 followed the duology in 2002 before a final title, Legacy of Kain: Defiance, was released in 2003.
The series has been dormant since, with fans consistently calling for a re-release or remaster. That’s because, outside of Steam ports, the series is virtually unplayable on modern hardware. It’s a pseudo cult classic given its age, with fans having praised its gameplay, story and mechanics.Indeed, the Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver served as the first game directed by Amy Hennig. Hennig would go onto craft a prolific career atNaughty Dog, having directedJak 3and thefirst three Uncharted titles.
