Summary

It Takes Twogets a bit of a hard time for winning the Game of the Year in a year when it arguably didn’t have much competition. While it might not have achieved that had it launched in a busier year, I continue to believe it’s a game that deserves to be celebrated and wish more titles followed in its footsteps and put more effort into co-op. I’m clearly not alone as at last count, It Takes Two had sold 16 million copies, and I’m guessing quite a few of those players will be interested in Cody and May’s new figures.

It Takes Two developerHazelight showed off the figures this weekand if you saw them in passing on social media, you’d be forgiven for thinking it had posted screenshots from the game. The figures look so realistic that even the team that worked on the game has admitted it couldn’t believe they were real when they were shown them for the first time.

It Takes Two Series Action Figure

Created in collaboration with Gong Studio and sold through Pop Mart, the figures are already available for pre-order in the US and China with the promise that they will be made available in other parts of the world in the future. Now comes the only downside - the price. A lot of time, effort, and money has gone into making Cody and May look so good, which means they have been priced at $114.99 each. That means parting with $230 if you want both, and let’s be honest, it would be kind of weird if you bought one and not the other.

They Look Like They’re About To Come To Life

Back to explaining why these figures cost so much. The detail in each of them is astounding, a closer look showing that they are exact replicas of It Takes Two’s playable duo, right down to the individual stitches in Cody and May’s knitted sweaters. Each figure has joints and interchangeable hands so you can pose them however you see fit, and each has a stand to place them on while they’re being displayed. At nine inches tall, they’re also exactly the same size as the characters are in the game.

It Takes Two Series Action Figure

Cody and May, the lead characters from It Takes Two, have been turned into very detailed action figures. The figures are nine inches tall, so the same size as the characters in the game, and have joints and stands so they can strike different poses, letting you recreate moments from the game.

It’s unclear what Hazelight has been up to since It Takes Two, whatever the studio is working on for the past three years remaining a closely guarded secret. We might find out what’s coming next week at Gamescom, though. Hazelight boss Josef Fares shared a photo of himself with Geoff Keighley at the end of June, confirming good stuff is coming before the end of 2024. I’m assuming he wasn’t just referring to the Cody and May figures.
