InKingdom HeartsFinal Mix, you’ll get to run across the golden sands of the Destiny Islands. Here, you’ll find all of Sora’s childhood friends hanging out and having fun. You can even challenge them to duels to earn experience and get the hang of combat. One of the most challenging duels is with your best friend and rival: Riku.
Riku is the tallest and strongest of the trio, making him a force to be reckoned with. However, you can take him down a peg by beating him in a duel. It will take a bit of practice, but we’ll help you even the score in no time!

Where To Find Riku On The Destiny Islands
On your first day on the islands, you canfind Riku by the paopu tree. While your priority for the day is gathering resources for Kairi to store for your voyage, you’re able to take some time to hang out with other friends.
Riku will besitting on the treewaiting for you to challenge him. Simply make your way up to him andtalk to inititate the duel. He’ll ask if you’re ready, and then the real fun begins.
If you leave the island for the day, you won’t be able to duel Riku anymore. Instead, when you challenge him, you’ll be prompted to race.
How To Beat Riku In A Duel
There are several things to keep in mind when dueling Riku. The platform you’ll fight on is rather small, soavoid the edges. If you get knocked out, it willcount as a loss.
Rikucannot be knocked offthe platform.
Every three to four hits, Riku will roll onto his back, thenleap into a powerful kick. Getting hit by this will take out a chunk of your health, so verify to get out of the way.
It’s important to note that youcannot hit him while he’s downlike this, sostep to the left or rightto avoid the attack. If you want to be extra careful,don’t hit him in succession. The finisher in your combo will leave you open to retaliation, so stick tosingle or double hitsbefore retreating.
Riku willtaunt you and block. Hitting him three times during this willbreak the block and he’ll lungeat you. While you can dodge this, it’s better toput some distance between youand take a moment to breathe.
Locking onto Riku will help you keep track of him as he jumps around the island.
As his HP reaches the bottom, Riku will start to use the leap attack more often. Keep your distance andstick to smaller combos. It’s a slow and steady battle. Riku can be reckless with his attacks, but he’s a skilled swordsman nonetheless, so stay vigilant!
When you beat him, you’ll get asmall sum of experience and a potion. He’s a bit difficult to defeat early on, but once you get the hang of it, Riku is agreat early fight to farm for experienceand potions.
