Summary
Viewers of Gamescom’s Opening Night Live may have been surprised by the announcement that Machine Games’Indiana Jones and the Great Circleiscoming to PlayStation 5 in Spring 2025, especially considering Xbox head Phil Spencer did not mention Indiana Jones as one of the Xbox exclusives coming to PlayStation earlier this year.
In February, Spencer revealed four Xbox exclusives were coming to PlayStation. These games ended up being Hi-Fi Rush, Pentiment, Grounded and Sea of Thieves. While some are claiming that Spencer ‘lied’ about Indiana Jones, that’s not quite true, he merely neglected to mention Indiana Jones.

Xbox Remains a Business Within Microsoft
During Gamescom’s Xbox live-stream, Spencer gave his thoughts on Indiana Jones coming to Xbox. “What I see when I look is that our franchises are getting stronger, our Xbox console players this year are as high as they’ve ever been, so I look it and I say, our player numbers are going up for the console platform, our franchises are as strong as they’ve ever been - and we run a business,” Spencer began.
“It’s definitely true inside of Microsoft that the bar is high for us in terms of the delivery we have to give back to the company, because we get a level of support from the company that is just amazing in terms of what we’re able to go do,” Spencer continued.

The notion that Xbox can’t just be a loss-making venture within Microsoft is something that Spencer has repeated numerous times since Microsoft’s layoffs at the beginning of the year.
“So I look at this - How can we make our games as strong as possible, that our platforms continue to grow both on console, PC and cloud, and I think it’s just going to be a strategy that works for us.”
Spencer finished by highlighting the pressure currently facing the gaming industry as stakeholders look for new ways to grow. He stresses that game distribution is changing, but the focus is still on creating great games, and anything else means “we’re focused on the wrong things.”
Indiana Jones and the Great Circle is coming to Game Pass on December 9, and PlayStation 5 sometime during Spring 2025.
