Summary
Xboxand MachineGames have finally announced a release date forIndiana Jones and the Great Circleat this year’s Gamescom Opening Night Live showcase, revealing that we’ll be stepping into the shoes of our favorite whip-wielding hero on December 9, and that it’ll also be coming to PS5.
As Monday’s rumors hinted at, the game will be coming out in the first half of 2025 for PS5, with a “Spring 2025” window provided at the end of the reveal.

Xbox has a very impressive lineup of blockbuster titles launching over the next year or so, withFable,Avowed,Doom: The Dark Ages, and South of Midnight all releasing at some point in 2025. Of course, we’ve got to get through 2024 before we get to those goodies though, and while Xbox’s lineup of titles launching this year doesn’t look as impressive, it still has Indiana Jones and the Great Circle to give it some presence this holiday season.
The Release Date Is Finally Here
We’ve been waiting for a release date for a good while now, having seen two separate trailers with a vague window of 2024 attached, and the longer a game goes with a specific date, the more antsy fans get. Thankfully, Xbox has put concerns thoroughly to rest, as it revealed in a new trailer that aired during Gamescom Opening Night Live that Indiana Jones and the Great Circle will be launching right before the end of the year.
The trailer was largely more of the same, though this time it was narrated by Troy Baker, who will be stepping into the role of the famous adventurer. Baker described his affinity for Indiana Jones as gameplay segments, including puzzles and first-person combat, were showcased.

It’s also been revealed that the game will be receiving some post-launch DLC in the form of “The Order of Giants.” It’s unclear what that DLC will entail exactly or when it’ll come out, but the game’s story will seemingly continue post December. Additionally, outfits based on The Last Crusade and The Temple of Doom will also be in the game, giving players the chance to look like their favorite Indy incarnation.
It looks pretty fantastic, and a very faithful Indiana Jones experience to boot, but we’ll have to wait and see whether the first-person perspective will grow on fans. Back when the game was confirmed to be first-person back in January, arguments erupted on social media aboutwhether MachineGames made the right call.

Many argued thata third-person perspective would have made it easier for us to step into the shoes of Indy, but many also pointed out that MachineGames has far more experience in first-person, being the developer behind the excellent, modern Wolfenstein games. We’ll have to see if MachineGames has what it takes to prove its doubters wrong.
