Hunt: Showdown 1896, as it is now known,launched yesterday. The game-changing update adds a new biome, enemies, weapons, and hunters and improves the visuals, performance, and audio.
Moving from “the bayou backwaters to the Rocky Mountains of Colorado” saw thefirst-person shooterhit a new concurrent peak player count on Steam of 59,968 on August 15, according toSteamcharts.
This new record eclipses the previous one set by the game back in June 2023, when Hunt: Showdown hit 44,527 concurrent players.
There are likely to be a couple of reasons for the influx of players. A new update of this size is likely to bring back lapsed players who want to jump back in and see what’s changed. What’s likely to have a bigger impact, however, is the fact that for the next few days, between August 15 and 19, thegame is free to play, meaning players who have been on the fence will get a chance to test the waters. Those who enjoy the game will be able to purchase it with a big discount until August 22.
While this update is great news for many, it does, unfortunately, mean that thePS4andXbox Oneversions of Hunt: Showdown are no longer playable.
