Farming some of the best items inThe First Descendantwill require you to open Amorphous Material, a fairly common material you’ll need dozens of to farm for certain drops. Quite a few items have a drop rate in the single digits, so it’s important to make the most out of each material you find.

The good news is that you can influence the drop rate of these rarer items through a resource called Shape Stabilizers. In this guide, we’ll go over how Shape Stabilizers work, how to get them, and how to use them on your supply of Amorphous Materials.

Where To Find Shape Stabilizers

you may find Shape Stabilizers as a rare reward type inmost endgame activities, including dungeons, recon missions found in the open world, and Special Operations. They drop in quantities of one, have incredibly low drop rates (2-10%), and are consumed when used. Needless to say, these items areincredibly rare and should be used carefully.

As with Amorphous Material, Shape Stabilizers come in different varieties. As of launch, there areeight types of Shape Stabilizersyou can find. Each version can only be applied to certain types of Amorphous Material, which you can figure out by inspecting your owned Amorphous Materials in the inventory menu. For example, Amorphous Material 12’s drop table states that it can only be empowered with Shape Stabilizer #2. Other stabilizer types will not work.

How To Use Shape Stabilizers

Shape Stabilizers can be used whileopening Amorphous Materialat the end of a Void Intercept or Void Reactor mission. After you select the Amorphous Material you wish to decrypt, you’ll see a “Shape Stabilizer” box under the reward options. If you own that stabilizer type, you can tick that box to use it.This will bias the drop rates toward the rarer items in the item.

For most Amorphous Materials, the two rarest items see a drop rateincrease, while the two most common items see a drop ratedecrease.More common Amorphous Materials will see rare items drop twice as often. The more exotic materials found in endgame will see a four percent drop rate boost instead. Remember thatthe Shape Stabilizer is consumed on use, regardless of outcome.Stockpile this resource if you plan on farming a particularly rare drop.
