With the arrival of Hoyoverse’sZenless Zone Zero, so too comes many new and complex mechanics for players to figure out. Similar to other successful games by Hoyoverse, Zenless Zone Zero relies on team-swapping mechanics to provide fun and unique combos whilst slaying Ethereal enemies.
But one combo prompt you will see time and time again is that of the Perfect Assist - a powerful ability that not only lets you protect your on-screen character but also can trigger additional abilities and stat increases if your team build is right. If you’re looking to figure out how to make the most of this new mechanic, you’ve come to the right place.

What Is A Perfect Assist?
In Zenless Zone Zero, a Perfect Assist can be triggered whenan enemy is about to attackand thesecondary character meets the prerequisitesfor the assist to be successful.
If a Perfect Assist is successful, it will eitherparry enemy attacksordodge enemy attacks, depending on whether it is aDefensive Assist or an EvasiveAssist. Perfect Assists canalso trigger additional effectsdepending on the abilities of the characters that trigger them.

How To Trigger A Perfect Assist
A Perfect Assist willautomatically be prompted to be triggeredright when anenemy makes an attack that can be blocked or dodged.
You can tell when a Perfect Assist is ready to be triggered because across of glowing golden light will emanatefrom an enemy. From here, triggering a Perfect Assist is quite easy. Simplypress the Switch icon,and the Perfect Assist will trigger.

Activating a Perfect Assist willconsume Assist Pointsat varying levels depending on the character, and Assist Points can be earned bysuccessfully completing Chain Attack Ultimates.
Variations Of Perfect Assists
Not all characters trigger Perfect Assists in the same way. You can check how Perfect Assists vary between characters byviewing their character information via the Partner Archive.
Each character will either have a Defensive Assist or an Evasive Assist listed, as well as anAssist Follow-Upthat provides additional effects when triggered in tandem with a Perfect Assist. An Assist Follow-Up can be activated byexecuting a Basic Attack immediately after the Perfect Assist.
Sometimes, a glowing red cross will appear instead of a gold one. This means that when you swap characters, a Perfect Dodge will be executed instead. If the prerequisites are not met for a Perfect Assist, it will be replaced with a Perfect Dodge.
Lastly, there will be times when thescreen will go monochromeafter performing a Perfect Assist. This simply means that an Assist Follow-Up cannot be triggered until abrief cooldown is completed.
