While the basic tools will be given to you during your first few days, a shovel is not among them. You won’t need it right away, but the sooner you can collect all the tools, the better. Here’s how to obtain and upgrade your shovel in Fields of Mistria!

Where To Buy A Shovel
Obtaining a shovel is an essential stepfor every farmer just starting out in Mistria. A shovel will allow you toexpand your farm, dig for materials, and carve pathwaysacross your land. However, unlike the basic tools of the trade, you’renot given this for free.
Instead, you’re left tofigure out how to get one on your own. You can eitherbuy a shovel or craft it, and buying a shovel is mucheasier (and often faster) than crafting it. Head tothe general storeto pick up your very ownWorn Shovel for 500 Tesserae.
While it’s not much, it will do the trick in a pinch. It will serve you well until you truly need an upgrade, which won’t be until you’re a well-established farmer anyway.
How To Craft A Shovel
If you prefer to get right to the point,it’s better to craft a shoveloutright. You already have a decent plot for farming when you first arrive, and you won’t need to expand it much right away. Instead,focus your efforts on reopening the minesso you can collect ore.
With this ore, you canforge better tools! This allows you toskip over the beginner shoveland instead get your hands on a much better versionat a lower cost.

How To Use A Shovel
You can use your shovel to expand your fields on the far,digging up the grassto reveal the same warm-colored dirt as the cleared patch of land when you first arrived at your farm. You can use this todesign pathways for yourself or new areas for cropsin your fields.
A shovel can also beused on ‘X’ marks and raised hills to excavateancient artifacts, so keep your eyes open when traveling!
