World of Warcraft’sThe War Within expansion takes players to the subterranean land of Khaz Algar, where they will work alongside a race of dwarves called the Earthen to defeat the threat of Xal’atath’s uprising. As we gain the trust of the Earthen, they pledge themselves to fight for both the Horde and Alliance, allowing players to access them as an allied race for either faction.
They come with their own unique customizations, abilities, mounts, and starting zone, and access to nine of the thirteen classes. Will you choose to delve into the unknown with your own hardy gem warrior?
The War Within is currently in Beta, meaning thatyou cannot unlock the Earthen on retail servers. We will update this when the expansion is fully released on July 20, 2025.
Who Are The Earthen?
TheEarthenaregem-encrusted creations of the Titanic Keepers, once used to help develop and protect Azeroth’s underground. Over a thousand years, their purpose has all but dwindled, however now they are being reawakened with a whole new purpose:to bewhatever they want to be.
They mainly dwell in their their capital,Dornogol, on the Island of Dorn, and now are happy to assist the players to prevent Xal’atath’s upcoming threat.
Earthen Abilities
The Earthen come with five unique racial traits: Azerite Surge, Hyper Productive, Ingest Minerals, Titan-Wrought Frame, and Wide-Eyed Wonder. Below is a comprehensive table of what these abilities do.
Description
Azerite Surge
“Draw upon your inner strength. Release to invoke the power of Azerite on a cone in front of you, dealing Fire damage. 2 minute cooldown. This is an empowered spell that gains additional effects as you empower it:
I: Deals Fire damage.
II: Heals allies hit by the effect.
III: Deals additional Fire damage to the highest health enemy hit by the effect.”
Hyper Productive
“Increases Finesse by 2%. Finesse increases the chance of gathering additional materials when gathering.”
Ingest Materials
“You are always Well Fed, but cannot consume food. Activate Ingest Minerals to consume a Khaz Algar gem and change the benefit granted to you by Well Fed:
“Base armor from equipped items is increased by 10%.”
Wide-Eyed Wonder
“When you gain experience for exploring a location, gain 200% additional exploration experience.”

TheSlatestone Ramolithwill be added to your mount collection whenunlocking the Earthenas an allied race. Additionally,paladinswill receive theEarthen’s Ordinant Ramolith.
Earthen Heritage Armor
You will receive theHeritage of the Earthenset and matching achievement upon reachinglevel 50on any newly created Earthen character; as well ascompleting the following quest lines:
How To Unlock The Earthen
In order tounlock the Earthenas a playable race, you mustcomplete the achievement, ‘Allied Races: Earthen’. This will require you to firstcomplete the main campaign, which goes as follows:
Additionally, you will have toseveral other questlinesspread across Khaz Algar, which all have about seven quests per questline.
