Unsurprisingly, the central focus ofDredge: The Iron Rigis the titular Iron Rig. As you invest in the rig, you’ll be able to unlock different facilities. These facilities can provide you with a number of exciting new upgrades and pieces of equipment.

In this guide, I’ll take you through all these facilities and what they do, while also instructing you on how to unlock them.

How To Unlock All The Iron Rig Facilities

First things first, you’ll find the Iron Rig northeast of the Twisted Strand and northwest of the Devil’s Spin. Once you dock there, you’ll be asked to retrieve an Ironhaven Crate. The location of these crates will be marked on your map. Lucky for you, two crates are close by, just a little southwest of the rig.

Bring a crate back to the rig and you will start the generator. You will be rewarded with theHull Repair Kit. Another package will get the science lab up and running. You will be rewarded withtea. Now, in order to power up the generator, you will simply need to fill it with fish. Doing so will reward you with theAberrated Bait. You will also be given the"Infused Rod".

Next, find two more crates(the next closest batch will be northwest of Steel Point) and bring them back to the Iron Rig to unlock the Tech Lab and Foundry. Once you have caught the first batch of fish being requested by the Scientist, you will run into a mysterious individual wearing a welder’s mask after leaving the rig and returning once again. This will unlock the Undermarket.

The Undermarket unlocked for me after I unlocked the Factory (I), Generator, Science Lab (I), Foundry (I), and Tech Lab (I). Youmayneed to have all these facilities unlocked before the Undermarket is made available.

Finally, in order to unlock the Fleet Services, which is how you gain access to the big hull upgrade, you’ll need to complete three of the Scientist’s fishing requests. This will trigger an event which will lead directly to said services unlocking.

Every Iron Rig Facility And What They Do

There are a total of seven facilities to unlock on the rig. These facilities will do one of two things: they’ll help you enhance your ship, or they’ll help you progress the Iron Rig’s story. A few of them, like the Generator and the Undermarket, play a pretty familiar role, but many of the other facilities provide some truly potent new tools for you to take advantage of.

Science Lab

The Scientist will give you quests. Completing them will unlock other facilities. For a detailed breakdown of every question associated with the Scientist, check out our complete guide to the Science Lab here.

Generator

The generator is the place where you will sell your fish. They are, for all intents and purposes, the Iron Rig fishmonger.

You will not be able to purchase crab pots here. Since the Generator is the fishmonger’s replacement, that meansthere is no place on the rig to buy crab pots from.

Undermarket

The Undermarket may sound super cool, but just like how the Generator acts as the Iron Rig’s fishmonger, the Undermarket is a rethemed Shipwright.

Factory

Here you will be able to purchase infused equipment. This will allow you to catch a greater number of fish in general, but, more importantly, you will need this gear to catch the fish associated with Dredge’s Iron Rig content. Upon unlocking the Factory, you’ll have access to the first tier of equipment. That will include…

1 Crate, 1 Dark Canister, 1 Hydraulic Rod, and $150

Dredge The Iron Rig. The rig’s Engineer.

1 Crate, 1 Flexible Fishing Pole, and $100

1 Crate, 1 Dark Canister, Anti-Tangle Line, and $250

You will need to purchase nearly all of this equipment at one point or another to complete all the content in the Iron Rig. Thoughyou will be given the Infused Rod.

Foundry

The Foundry will allow you to construct Ironhaven Crates by using metal scraps, bolts of cloth, and lumber. So, if you have extra bits of scrap in your inventory, you may assemble some of those oh-so-valuable crates with it.

Once you get the Foundry toTier 2, you will be able toswap Ironhaven Crates for Research Parts!

Dredge The Iron Rig. The final Hull Upgrade made available by The Iron Rig.-1

Tech Lab

The Tech Lab will provide you with permanent upgrades that will improve your lights, spyglass, and foghorn. These enhancements are permanent and do not take up any space in your hull. Once you unlock the Tech Lab, you’ll have access to the below upgrades…

The Tier 2 equipment sold by the Tech Labwilltake up space in your Hull, but at least they are flexible enough that you can place themanywhere. Additionally, they only occupy a single space.

Fleet Services

Fleet Services is the final facility to unlock. You will need to provide the Scientist with multiple batches of fish before Fleet Services becomes available. However, once it does, it will allow you toexpand your hullby an additional 11 spaces. This upgrade will cost you two crates and a whopping $2,500 Smackeroos.
