Outposts are a core part ofThe First Descendant’sendgame content. These remote bases can be infiltrated and cleared out to earn some exclusive rewards, including Amorphous Material Patterns (AMPs for short) and Shape Stabilizers. If you’re looking to unlock every Descendant or Ultimate weapon, you’ll need to farm these outposts at some point.

Fortunately, clearing outposts is a trivial affair for most builds in this game. We’ll show you how to clear an outpost on both difficulty settings, explain how to complete a successful infiltration run, and cover the rewards you can earn from every Recon mission in The First Descendant.

The First Descendant Sharen Hacking Generator

How To Clear Outposts

Each outpost is powered by a handful of generators, all of which are guarded by roughly a dozen Vulgus units. You must either destroy or hack the generatorsto spawn the outpost’s commanding officer. Kill the Elite unit, and you’ll complete the mission. It really is that simple.

Outpost Lockout Timer

Once you clear an outpost, you must waitone minuteto clear the same outpost again. This timer was reduced in Patch 1.0.4.

You can bypass this cooldown by fast-traveling to another zone and back, although this doesn’t always work.

However, where outposts get tricky is in hacking the generators. If you enter the outpost without being seen, you can hack the generators by interacting with them.Doing this is necessary to access a bonus reward pool for that outpost, some of which give exclusive Amorphous Materials and Shape Stabilizers.

How To Stealth Hack Generators

Hacking generators is currentlyonly possible with Sharenthrough her Active Camouflage ability. You’ll want togo invisible before entering the outpost. If you enter the outpost and see “Infiltrating” at the top of your screen, you’re hidden. Simply walk up to the generator and hold the interact button to hack it. If you build Sharen for ability duration, you should be able to hack every generator before your camouflage runs out.

Outpost Rewards

Every outpost you find will have two rewards pools: a completion reward and an infiltration reward.

Completion rewardsdrop from completing the mission, no side objectives required. Clearing an outpost will usually drop a random weapon and reactor, with a chance ofdropping an Amorphous Material, Shape Stabilizer, and/or exclusive crafting materials from the Elite boss. You cannot influence these drops.Clear the mission, wait for a minute, and then try again.

Infiltration rewardsare earned from hacking the generators within an outpost, which requires you to enter the outpost without being spotted. Each generator you hack increases the chance of earning a bonus infiltration reward. This reward pool drops exclusive Amorphous Materials on Hard difficulty, so it’s highly recommended that you aim to hack outpost generators whenever possible.

Outpost Locations

Each zone in The First Descendant has at least one outpost, usually two.Every outpost has a unique drop table, one for Normal difficulty and another for Hard. The only limit to farming these outposts is the 60-second lockout timer between each clear. If you’re looking for certain Amorphous Materials or crafting materials, check the tables below to see where they drop at.
