Soulmaskis a survival-crafting sandbox game with a heavy focus on realism that creates a more immersive and challenging survival experience. As the last one blessed with the mysterious mask, you must bravely explore the strange overworld, tame and recruit NPCs, and build a tribe of your own.
A core gameplay mechanic of Soulmask is to build a strong and functional base where you and your tribesmen can grow stronger together and face the harsh realities of the world. One such reality is the constant threat of decay that can crumbleall of your buildingsto dust. Thankfully, there is a way you may stop your buildings from decaying in Soulmask.

Soulmask is in early access and information is subject to change.
How To Stop Your Buildings From Decaying
To protect your buildings from decay, you’ll need toconstruct a bonfirearound your base. Not only does the bonfire attract potential tribesmen who’ll work for you, but it also prevents your buildings from decaying.
Thankfully, you can manually craft a simple bonfire early on in your playthrough. To do so, press theTabkey and navigate to theItemstab. Next, look for theBonfirein theManual Crafting Blueprintssection.

A simple Bonfirerequires ten Branches, but you canoptionally add stones, flint, logs, andhardwoodto craft it. As such, it’s important to find a base location with plenty of trees for logs or branches, although thankfully, these resources are generally abundant.
As you progress through the game, you’ll eventually unlock crafting recipes for better bonfires, like the Bronze Pit Bonfire, Iron Pit Bonfire, Steel Pit Bonfire, and Fine Steel Pit Bonfire.
How To Maintain A Bonfire
You need to constantly gather resources andmaintain your bonfire to make sure that it stays lit,and your base doesn’t crumble around you. Bonfires stay lit with fuel, so you can simply add combustible materials, likeBark, Logs, Hardwood, andPremium Hardwoodto keep the fire burning. Additionally, you can also build a roof over your bonfire so that it doesn’t get put out by rain.
Once you have enough tribesmen, you canassign them tasks to gather branches and logs and maintain your bonfire. This way, you may rest assured that your base is protected from decay even when you’re logged off.
