Like many games with a crafting system, you’ll need different crafting stations to make different items in7 Days To Die. It’s possible to find a lot of things just by looting, but many of the more important items, like Forged Iron, are pretty rare, and you don’t want to get stuck waiting to get lucky with finding them.
Other recipes get even more specific as you progress, and you won’t be looting what you need for them very often – if it’s available to loot at all. To get a large supply of forged and smelted metals, enough for the many advanced weapons and armor pieces, you’ll want to invest in a Forge.

How To Craft A Forge
The Forge is usually the first big crafting station you’ll make, and it cantake a bit of time to unlockit depending on the loot you find.
First, you’ll need toread at least five Forge Ahead magazinesto unlock the recipe for it, then you’llneed five different materialsto make one: Cobblestone Rocks, a Wood Log, Leather, Duct Tape, and Short Iron Pipes.

If you’re having trouble finding Forge Ahead magazines, you caninvest in the Lockpicking skillto increase your chances of finding them in most lootables.

First, open the Forge’s inventory, thenmanually move the itemsyou want to smelt into theSmelting inventory, which sitsunderneath the upgradesmenu.
Add in as much coal as you want, thenturn the Forge on, and it willstart automatically smeltingdown the items within that inventory.
Lead (Salvaged) or Lead Car Battery.
Brass
Brass (Salvaged) or Brass Radiator.
When each smelt is completed, thematerials are stored in the Forge’s smelting inventory, and they’ll getpulled from it whenever you craftanything in the Forge.
Be careful not to accidentally break your Forge or let it be destroyed by zombies, or else you’lllose all the smelted materialsin it.
