Even if you’ve played other HoYoverse games, you’ll be greeted with a breath of fresh air when you start playingZenless Zone Zero. Not only is this game set in an entirely different universe, but it also features the story-telling and animation styles that you wouldn’t generally expect.
While you do get to select the main characters in the beginning, you won’t be taking part in combat with them. There are quite a lot of little tricks that you’re able to use while playing to get an edge over other players and reach the endgame quickly.

Collect Everything During TV Gameplay
As soon as you start playing Zenless Zone Zero, you’ll quickly realize that a significant amount of your time will be spent in the TV gameplay. This happenswhen you enter a certain scenario through the main monitor in your shop, and it essentially asks you to go through multiple TV screens to simulate real exploration.
You’ll only get out of this mode for some dialogues and combat, so understandably, most of the rewards you can get are during the TV gameplay itself. This happens in the form of special TVs with a symbol of Denny, a golden crate, a purple crate, or a golden sphere on them.

As you progress in the story, thesespecial TVs will either be hiddenor locked behind a certain mechanic.
The golden spheres are called Observation Data, and areimportant if you want to get the best rewards from the scenario. In general, there are three observation data, one golden, and one purple crate in each exploration scenario. It’s important to check out the entire area and move to the edges in case there’s a hidden path.

Character Range Might Be Longer Than You Think
This point is mainly for ranged characters since these characters might be able to hit a target much farther than you’d think. Even with the best graphics, Zenlessdoesn’t show where a character’s projectiles are going, which can easily make you believe that they’re quite short-range.
When you’re in a combat situation, you’ll commonly find a border at every exit from the area. In most cases, aranged character can likely hit an enemy across this entire area. Staying far away from the enemies also prevents you from getting attacked and makes it easier to see the yellow and red glows to react in time.

Use Your Polychrome Wisely
It’s no surprise that most of the gameplay in Zenless Zone Zero revolves around its gacha aspect, andPolychrome is the highest tier of the many currencies you’re able to find in it. You have to use Master Tapes and Encrypted Master Tapes to summon on the gacha banners, but you can also use Polychrome to buy these pulls.
In fact, you’ll have to do that in most cases since the game simply gives youPolychrome through events, exploration, story, and endgame mode. Apart from buying the pulls, you can also refresh your Battery using these Polychromes. However, it’s highly recommended to never do that, especially if you’re an F2P or low-spending player.

The battery regenerates automatically over time, and spending Polychrome on it isessentially you trying to progress too fast.
Apart from a waste of currency, it also leads to finishing the game’s content too quickly.

Furthermore, it’srecommended to only spend Polychrome on Encrypted Master Tapesas these are used for limited banners, whereas the Master Tape is used for permanent banner and you can always get more pulls for it later.
Keep An Eye On Your Battery Charge
Talking about the battery, it’s highly important tonot let this energy-type resource capif you want to play the game efficiently. You can get one battery charge every six minutes, but it stops regenerating after you reach 240. Once that happens, you’ll actively be losing essential resources and Inter-Knot EXP until you use some of it.
You don’t have to worry about this when you initially start the gamesince you won’t have anything to spend it on. However, once you do unlock the character and other material domains, make sure you spend it at least once every day.

Know What Each Character Does
One of the main differences between Zenless Zone Zero and other games from HoYoverse is the depth in a character’s kit and the combat itself. Apart from having a simple basic attack, skill, and ultimate kit, each character in this game also hasspecial abilities for perfect dodges, assists, and chained attacks.
Moreover, your character’s ultimate is technically the buffed skillwhile the actual ultimate is shared between the team. With a combat system this complex, it’s highly important toread every character’s abilitiesand understand what they do. Without this knowledge, you wouldn’t be able to beat hard content even with the best characters.

Characters also have various buffs depending on thetype of team members you use with them, which is also important to take into account.
Some Things Shouldn’t Be Skipped
HoYoverse has reached new heights with Zenless Zone Zero as they’ve finallymade the skip button available during almost every dialogue scenario. Using this button, you can quickly progress through the story if you don’t care much about the lore and only want to focus on other gameplay like exploration or combat.
However, there are certain things that you shouldn’t skip, and these surprisingly aren’t a part of any main questline. As you’re exploring different areas in the game, you’ll commonlycome across NPCs with three white dots on top of their head. When you talk to these people, you’ll commonly start a new quest.
The main issue is, that these quests won’t appear in your quest menu, and theyrequire you to know what the NPC said.
Most of these quests will help you get some H.I.A Commemorative Tokens, which is a collectible that can fetch you tons of rewards. If you see one of these, it’shighly recommended to see what the person saysso that you’re able to finish it for them.
Get Your Food And Drinks
As you progress through the main story, you’ll quickly be introduced to variousshops on the Sixth Street including the soup and coffee shops. The former is located in front on the same side of the street as you exit your store, while the latter can be found a little ahead after crossing a junction.
The soup shop allows you to get various recipes togive you buffs during the next three battles, and you can get multiple of them. If you think you’re about the enter a tough scenario, it might be worth eating one of these beforehand. On the other hand, the coffee shop allows you to regenerate 60 battery charges once every day.
This battery chargeregeneration is highly important, especially during the early game.
While it’s not too important to get soups, you should still get your coffee every day and use theexcess battery charge on the items you need the most. As you level up, you’re able to also get some special buffs from the coffee.
Don’t Upgrade Too Many Characters At Once
Gacha games like Zenless Zone Zero are designed to make it as long as possible for you to reach the endgame and beat everything in the game. One of the main things doing that is the lack of resources. During the early game, you might find it easy to upgrade multiple characters since you get an abundance of resources.
However, as you run out of content andreach higher levels on these characters, you’ll quickly run out of resources. It’s important to find three to four characters of your choice and upgrade them fully first so that you don’t end up having a bunch of half-upgraded characters when you face tough content like the Shiyu Defense.
