Marvel Rivalsis a stacked Hero Shooter that has you play as fan-favorite superheroes in a six versus six skirmish, leading to tremendous fast-paced action and excitement. Whether you love Spidey, Rocket Raccoon, or even Scarlet Witch, you have many Heroes to choose from, all complete with unique actions and abilities.
However, some characters are vastly more complicated to play than others, with Spider-Man being one of the more challenging Duelists to pick up and play. But fear not. you may still dominate the arena as your favorite friendly neighborhood Spider-Man, but you will have to put in a bit more time and effort than with some of the other characters.
Updated May 29, 2025, by Seth Parmer:Spider-Man is still an exceptionally challenging character to pick up and play in Marvel Rivals, and that’s even more so the case, as he has slightly less health than he did in the beta. However, with the addition of Squirrel Girl, he has access to more Team-Up Abilities that can give himself and his team the upper hand if implemented properly!

Spider-Manis a tremendously strong Hero in Marvel Rivals, butmastering his web-slinging move list will require lots of effort and skillon your end. If you want to unlock the true potential of Spider-Man, westrongly urge you to tackle the Practice Rangeand familiarize yourself with everything he’s capable of (which is A LOT).
Like most Duelists,Spider-Man doesn’t have a lot of health,but hishigh mobility provides him with more than enough evasiveness to make that not too much of a problemif you’re on the ball.While his damage isn’t the highestregarding the Duelist Role, hisability to slow and displace enemies makes him a tremendously solid teammateoverall.

Passive
Despite being a challenging Hero to play,Spider-Man is an excellent teammatein Marvel Rivals,especially if you pair him with one of his several Team-Up partners,allowing him tomaximize his potential, as well as the team’s.However, with great power comes great responsibility, soensure you’re comfortable enough with Spideybefore lurching into the fray with him.
Being able todeal more damage or further slow your opposition’s attempts at pushing,Spider-Man and his Team-Up Heroes can doan excellent job at preventing a defeat.That is, of course, if you can get the hang of his odd gameplay and surprisingly high skill requirements!
Spider-Power

If the action is held down, Spider-Man performs a series of strikes with his fists, dealing decent damage to his opponent.
Web Cluster
RMB/L2/LT
Spider-Man launches a cluster of webs at his target as a projectile, dealing damage on impact and leaving behind a Spider-Tracer on the opponent.
Get Over Here!
E/R1/RB
Spider-Man tethers a web to his opponents and yanks them toward him. If they are tagged with a Spider-Tracer, Spider-Man will launch himself at the target instead, delivering a swift upward kick on arrival.
Amazing Combo
F/Square/X
Deliver a devastating uppercut that launches your target and any nearby enemies high into the air. If they are tagged with a Spider-Tracer, they will receive more damage. Spider-Man can hold two stacks of Amazing Combo at a time.
Web-Swing
LSHIFT/L1/R1
Shoot a web above yourself, allowing Spider-Man to swing from it to cover a great deal of distance. Spider-Man can hold a maximum of three Web-Swings at a time.
Twip And Flip
(Double-Tap) Space/X/A
Allows Spider-Man to perform an additional jump while airborne, serving as a double jump.
Spectacular Spin
Q/L3+R3
Spider-Man spins around and launches a barrage of webs at anyone and anything in the area, dealing tremendous amounts of damage and stunning anyone it makes contact with.
Wall Crawl
Allows Spider-Man to crawl on most surfaces by jumping into them. Once on the wall, pressing LMB/R2/RT will have him begin running on the surface instead.
Suit Expulsion
Team-Up Ability
After receiving Venom’s symbiote, Spider-Man can activate his symbiote-infused ability, having his suit explode outward, damaging all nearby enemies and pushing them backward.
Extra Web-Fluid
Grants Squirrel Girl a Web Bomb that she can hurl toward an object or enemy to temporarily immobilize and damage them, making it an excellent Team-Up action for halting encroaching enemies in their tracks.
From the table above, we can see thatSpider-Man has many Abilities at his disposal,which is what makes him so challenging to simply pick up and play. Furthermore, since hehas to get up close and personalwith his opponent, itcan be hard to get needed picks or apply pressureif you’re unfamiliar with his tools.
Hethrives with a solid team compositionthat can provide him withconstant healsand can helpmitigate lots of incoming damage.Hisnimbleness and top-tier mobility can make him a nuisance to deal with,but you must get used to how to properly navigate the stages with him, as it can be a bit awkward at first.
Recommended Teams
Again,Spider-Man is really complicated to play and needs a solid teamaround himself to perform at his best. We stronglyrecommend having Venomon the team to take advantage of hisSuit Expulsion Team-UpAbility and someone likeLuna Snow, who can constantly provide him with healswhen he decides to dive in.
HisUltimate Move is an excellent one,but it can be risky to toss out there, sohaving someone like Rocket Raccoon who can boost his damage output and provide healingcan go a long way, too. From there,most other Duelists and Vanguards pair well with Spidey,so long as they’re helping dish out the damage and mitigate it.
With the addition ofSquirrel Girlon the roster,pairing Spideyup with her will give youeven more options to temporarily slow an incoming enemy push,making it a powerful duo that you should consider running with. While not extraordinarily strong, it will get the job done, and that’s all you can really ask for!
How To Play As Spider-Man In Marvel Rivals
In terms of a flowchart,Spider-Man is very complex, offering many unique routes to start his offense.While sticking aSpider-Traceron your opponent viaWeb Clusterisalmost always worth it, losing access to pull them toward you doesn’t always make that the case.Regardless, Spidey may be complicated to play, but he’s extraordinarily fun once you familiarize yourself with his toolkit!
Spider-Man Combos In Marvel Rivals
UsingWeb-Swing to initiate your combos is a solid way to get the drop on your opposition,allowing you to engage from the flank or position yourself strategically first before going all out.
In most situations,launching a Web Cluster while airborne will be your next move,as it will allow you tolaunch directly into Get Over Here! to place yourself in the heart of the enemy onslaught,allowing you to either perform an Amazing Combo or his Spectacular Spin.
However, if atarget is squishy or weak, holding off on the Web Cluster to avoid placing a Spider-Tracer on themwill haveGet Over Here! pull them toward you,allowingyou and your teammates to gang up and defeat them swiftly.Always keep this kind of option play in mind, and you will be golden with our friendly neighborhood Spider-Man!
When To Use Spectacular Spin
Spectacular Spinis Spider-Man’sUltimate Ability,having himspin in a tight circle while launching an onslaught of webs at enemies in a wide rangearound himself. This movedeals decent damage and stuns all targetsin the area, making it a tremendous tool for your team.
However, since yourgoal is to be near many enemies before executing this attack,you will need some support before launching it. The good news, however, isSpidey’s HP jumps from 300 to 550when performing Spectacular Spin, allowing him to withstand lots of firepower.
UsingWeb-Swing > Web Cluster > Get Over Here!todrop onto the oppositionwill allow you touse Spectacular Spin effectively.If Rocket Raccoon’s Ultimate Ability is ready, its potency will increase that much more. While itcan be used to initiate a push, ensure your team is on the same page,as it will just get wasted instead. And no one wants that.
WhileSpidey will be vulnerableduring Spectacular Spin,his boosted HP and any support from his teammates will pretty much negate any chance of him dyingduring the action.Executing it at the proper time and place is where the brunt of the risk comes fromwith his Ultimate Attack!
