As a gacha game,Zenless Zone Zerolets you summon a variety of characters that are S and A rank, with S being the equivalent of five stars. When you unlock the ability to summon, you’ll see information about choosing an S-ranked character once you summon enough.

When Can You Start Summoning?
To begin summoning, you will need tocomplete the tutorial section of the game.Once this happens, you will be able to walk around Sixth Street. At this point, you will need tospeak with General Chop and Susie to complete their commissions.
After speaking with them (butbefore actually completing the commissions), you will unlock the ability to summon.
How To Choose A Free 5-Star Character
After summoning is unlocked, you will be able to summon on special banners, as well as aconstant banner channel labeled as ‘Stable’.On this banner, you will see a little meter that tracks how much you summon.
Once you reach 50 summons,you will receive a random S-rank character.You will not be able to choose which one you receive.After summoning 300 times,you will then be able to choose your own S-rank character, with the following options available.
Summons on other banners willnot count towards this 300.
Which Character Should You Choose?
So, which of these characters is the best? At this point, you’ve already summoned at least 300 times, which means that you probably have a few strong characters. The decision can be important, butfeel free to choose whoever you like the best if you want.
That’s not our final answer though! Overall, if you are looking for a strong S-rank character,we suggest choosing either Lycaon or Grace.Lycaon can deal a massive amount of damage and hasboth Ice and Stun abilities.Grace, on the other hand,deals Electric damage (which can stun) along with having a high Anomaly Proficiency.
This is a trait thatenhances damage inflicted by Attribute Anomalies.The attribute in question is Electric, making Grace quite powerful. Overall though, all six characters are great options;there is no ‘wrong’ choice.
