While mining around the world inCore Keeper, you may come face to face with a locked chest. If you have no keys on hand, you may have to simply remember the spot (or mark it on your map), and then continue on until you get a key that works.
How exactly do you get the copper keys to open locked chests? In this guide, we’ll take a look at how you can find locked chests and obtain the copper keys that are required to open them. First, let’s go over how to find these chests and keep them for later.

There are different types of locked chests that you can find throughout the world. This will just address opening the first tier that you will find; the locked copper chest.
Where Are Locked Chests?
Locked copper chestsappear throughout the world naturally. You may come across them as you mine tunnels to connect areas. The chests themselves are never buried; they will be visible when you are nearby.
If you try to interact with the chest, you won’t be able to open it, but you will see akey slot appear telling you that a copper key is required. From here, the best course of action if you don’t have a key is tomine the chest up.

That’s right, just because you can’t open the chest doesn’t mean that you can’t take it with you! This is the most convenient option, as it lets youbring the chest home and put it in a place temporarily until you get your hands on a copper key.
