Deadlockis an upcoming multiplayer game that combines the MOBA and Hero Shooter genres. Deadlock is currently being developed by Valve, with temporary art and experimental features, but is entirely playable.
Unlike normal games on Steam, you may’t just go to the store and download Deadlock. Instead, you’ll need to be invited to join the playtest, but once you’re invited, Deadlock is entirely free to download and play. Below, we’ll take a look at what you can do to get invited to the playtest, and how to invite your friends once you have access.
How To Get An Invite To The Deadlock Playtest
To join the Deadlock playtest, you need to beinvited by someone on your Steam friend list. This means that you’ll need to know someone else who was invited, and have them invite you in order to play. If your friends list is connected enough, there’s a high chance that someone has access to the game and can invite you, as the more people are invited, the more people there are to invite others.
Of course, not everyone has a massive friend list, and it’s entirely possible that none of your friends have access to the game. In that case, there are plenty of peopleoffering invites to the gameon theDeadlock community hub pageon Steam.

The process here is simple. Find a post advertising Deadlock invites, send them a friend request, and comment that you’ve done so, and they should eventually send you an invite to the game. According to Valve,invites take around one to two days to be sent out, but from our personal experience, it seems to bemore like an hour or two.
Now, you should get a Steam notification that you’ve received an invite to the Deadlock playtest. Accept the invite, and the game will be added to your Steam library!
How To Invite Friends To The Deadlock Playtest
Once you’ve gained access to the game, you’re able to then invite your friends, or advertise invites on the community page yourself. To add friends to the playtest, find the"Invite Your Friends"button on thegame’s main menu.
Selecting this button will open a menu with a list of your Steam friends, divided into friends who you can invite, friends you’ve already invited, and friends who already have access to the game. Now, simply hover over the friend you want to invite and select “Invite”. As mentioned above, it realistically takesaround one to two hours for this invite to be sent out.
